Did I get ripped off?

I went to best buy friday and pre-ordered my evo... when the girl told me the total was $54.38 I asked about the extra $4.38 she said it was tax and that when I come to buy the phone the total of $54.38 was already on the card and i would only need to pay the total minus $54.38... when I got home I looked at the receipt and it shows the total on the card as $50.00, now $4.38 isnt going to kill me but...

did anyone else have to pay tax on your pre-order? scanned pic below.

I got charged tax to, I heard somewhere that it was a glitch in their system

2 u guys who know ur position on the pre-order list with best buy, did u have 2 ask ur position or is it listed on ur deposit receipt?

I asked did a lot of people come through & the guy said yeah but they are suppose to get plenty of devices in

@brivers73... do you know if the amnt you paid for tax will toward the price of the phone? because if not Its a waste!

@brooknam... I never thought about that, I just assumed that since they were taking pre - orders they would make sure they didnt sell more pre-orders than amnt of phones they expect to get. Are you telling me I may go to best buy friday night on the 4th of june and they may not have one for me?

I just pre ordered 2 of them and was not charged tax. I was charged $100 even and given 2 gift cards with $50 on each

I have Sprint Sero plan($30 plan) from last two years now I am eligible for upgrade. So I went to Best Buy and pre order my Evo without any trouble. So my question is will Best Buy activate my Evo on my Sero plan on June 4. Thank you.
