There really has to be an app or something like sktools, dashwire, some other back up software i can use? Mine are not all email address, mainly just names and numbers.
Create a gmail account, then using google mobile sync you can sync your contacts from your phone directly to your gmail account. Now when you get your evo and you sign in using the same gmail account it will automatically put your contacts on your phone.

You can use exchange to transfer your files to Google. Setup exchange thru activesync on your winmo device.

Thanks for the reply. I am specifically looking to not store my data in the cloud which is why I want the direct Outlook to Android sync. Also, I didn't think there is a 2way Outlook to Gmail sync for contacts (I know of the manual export/import), only calendar.... has that changed?

that has changed, you can sync contacts and calendar now. Also using exchange isn't a cloud, exchange is already built into your tp2, and it will just transfer your contacts and calendar to the google account your going to need anyways. then when you get your google phone and login your calendar and contacts will automatically sync to the phone.

Re: Contacts and calendar from WinMo to Evo?

Anyone know of a free exchange server that works well?

I kknow mail2web has a free trial on an exchange server:
http://mail2web.com/mobile-email/

Anyone tried it with WinMo and Android? Does it bring everything over, catagories and all?

Re: Contacts and calendar from WinMo to Evo?

You don't use outlook, that's adding extra work. Your contacts are already on your phone. Activesync is already on every single winmo phone. Google connects to active sync directly. Here are steps to set up exchange thru active synched which will exchange your contacts from your phone to your Google account.
