Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???

I know people will take Evos and put them on Cricket, Metro PCS, etc, but if you want wimax, you will need to have the right Sprint, and only Sprint, plan. And to do that, you need to follow Sprint's rules. That's the only point I'm trying to make.

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???

Unfortunately, as hyped as I was, I can't make my parents and brother ditch our family plan, especially in our financial situation right now. As sad as I am to say this, I think Sprint just lost a sale and I'm flushing my evo dreams down the toilet.

Its not whether your phone still works or not, I think you are missing the point, its not like its because of technical limitations. If sprint wanted to allow sero users to activate evo's on sero accounts then they can do that if they wanted to. If they wanted you to use the evo on your current account type or any other account type then that wouldn't be a problem if thats what they wanted. The bottom line is sprint cant force you to change your current plan but what they can do is offer a new kick ass product but the only way to get that new kick ass product is to sign up for a new plan, its called a business model and a very good one at that when you consider how great the evo will probably be. Its not like sprint is flipping the switch on all tp2's so that they can't work on the network any more now forcing you to get a newer phone with a newer plan, I am sure you will be able to use your tp2 for as looooong as you want on your current plan, right? Also, its not like sprint is the only cell phone provider in the country and they hold a monopoly forcing whatever they wanted down your throat, you have a choice, if you have a problem with it then go to tmobile, go to att, or go to verizon. Its like me buying a new car, it does all the same things as my current car does but it looks better and it does it faster and if i want to take that new car home I have to agree to the new terms and if I dont agree to those terms I can go to another dealership or I can just keep the car I have. But the bottom line is eventually you gonna have to pay to play.

Thank You! I Completely Agree. You hit the nail on the head! The other posters were insisting that it was because they were providing you with more service features when in fact it is because they want you to pay more. I would guess they looked around and saw how much more At&T and Verizon were charging, and said it's time we start charging more!

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???

I for one will not be happy if i have to pay extra for 4g especially since 4g is totally non existent in my area HECK 3g is barely usable. If its less than $5/mo more i will deal with it. More than that, I will just keep using my touch pro 2 and go to t-mobile when they get a comparable android device or go to vzw for the incredible.

Yeah, T-Mobile is a real option here. They have already said they'll have HSPA+ phones this year- with data speeds faster than Sprint's 4G, and a bigger HSPA+ coverage area than Sprint's 4G. Their prices are already the same or lower than Sprint's current prices, and they don't even require a contract.

If Sprint plays games with the plan, I'll just hold out for T-Mobile to get a phone I want.

And again nothing is wrong with sprint wanting you to pay a little more, they are a business thats doing what they can to provide us the best service possible and the best service doesn't come free, maybe thats why they say verizon has the best customer service because their customers are paying out the ass for their phone service. But personally I can't complain at all, I been riding a really old plan for a really long time with some tweaks here and there that I just couldn't give up. When the everything data came out I refused to change anything up until the end of last year when I realized that the any mobile to any mobile feature itself would save me quite a bit, so I took the bait and now it turns out that I am paying about 20 less a month with more features on the latest plan.

I wont doubt the hspa thing but I definitely put no stock in their claim to having bigger coverage than sprint. They have coverage here in Atlanta and its still the worst service coverage wise that i've had out of every provider i've been on... and ive had them all. Dropped calls, dead zones... or just plain phone outages for no reason whatsoever. I cancelled my line with them and stayed with Sprint. Yes they are cheap but so is their coverage.

If T-Mobile was like that everywhere, then they wouldn't be able to stay in business. As it is though, they are adding tons of customers every quarter, and their customers always say they are satisfied. In fact, they are always neck and neck with Verizon as having the best customer service and most satisfied customers.

With me it's just the opposite. I can't get a good Sprint signal inside a building. It just fluctuates from 1 or 2 bars to the roaming triangle. I'm hoping it improves with the launch of 4G, because it actually used to be better than this.

Assuming Sprint only piggy backs the 4G on the existing towers, your voice signal probably won't change, but depending on range, you could get good 4G signal, when available in your area. I don't know the range of 1X vs 4G.

On a side note, it would be nice if the 4G network coverage was the same, or better than the existing 3G network, by the end of next year. I want to use 4G everywhere!
