Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
This has been mentioned countless times, it is easier to put android on a windows phone than it is to put windows on an android phone so to answer your question no it probably can't or won't be done.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
To add, I don't think anyone is putting any development time into making this happen. Devs are trying to make Android run on other platforms (WM, iPhone, Symbian), but not the other way around.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
im sure if one dev wanted to for some reason they could try it out. but i would imagine there would be a lot of kinks and bugs to be worked out for awhile before it is even worth sharing with others

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
sure it definitely is probably possible, but most developers wouldn't want to waste their time doing this. Honestly the person who could do this should definitely be developing apps as there is so much potential for android apps and just not enough developers. Personally i could think of 5 great apps at least but i have no clue how to become a developer, its not easy.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
It gets a little old hearing "developers don't want to do that" from a bunch of non-developers. This topic has been mentioned so many times that yes, I am sure there are developers that would be interested in making this port though I cannot speak as a developer as I am not one. The real issue with this is copyright infringement. If you buy an EVO, you don not have a license to WM software. The reason the port goes the other way is because Android is open source.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
I believe there are more legal issues than anything, custom roms are one thing, but each windows mobile phone has a built in cost going to M$ for a user liscense. Android and ubuntu etc are open source and free use so there really isn't any legal issues there but doing the reverse with out paying for a license would be right up there with ESN cloning and other illegal type activities.

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
+1 on this... I think most devs will avoid this because of the potential legal issues involved, rather than the level of difficulty or possibility...
This calls to mind the cease and desist letters that many got (including this very site, IIRC) when they started developing custom ROMs with the first leaked versions of WinMo 6.5. I would imagine MS would do similar if they discovered someone trying to port WinMo to a non-WinMo platform. Sure, there's some that will likely do it anyway, but I doubt the Mods/Admins will allow it to show up on here due to the legal issues...

Re: Windows Mobile on Evo?
Are you 100% sure that android is free use? I mean we all know it's open source but open source does not mean free use. I've heard people argue from both sides of the fences though. Just was wondering if you had any proof of it.
