The only WP7 phone I know of right now to use non-sd card memory is one of the dell phones (I think). All the others appear to use micro-sd cards. Although, you must take your phone apart, and void your warranty, in order to replace them. So, non-replaceable memory is only a half-true statement.

I wasn't talking about whether or not you could or couldn't use a stylus with the hardware. I was saying that (with every official release that I have seen) you had to. On my TP2 with any official wm release anything that was finger friendly, i.e the calendar, email, contacts, keyboard, settings, etc. came from HTC. Once you got past that, you had 2mm x 2mm check boxes, small scroll bars, small lists, etc. The wm keyboard was a joke even with a stylus, and so was pie. As a matter of fact, most of the hacking that I saw was about making things more finger friendly. 6.5.x got a lot better, but, to the best of my knowledge, there was never an official release. I see your point though, when in good light, you could actually check one of those tiny little boxes with your finger. You just had to be really steady and careful.

I use my EVO for email, viewing and editing documents, spreadsheets, etc. and have never needed to use a stylus. It was that way out of the box. Android kicked ms' ass.

my take on this whole thing is yeah...porting WM onto the EVO is pointless. i'm glad the many chefs here were able to make my htc diamond days more bearable with newer ports of touchflo 3d (sense for windows). i for one do kind of miss the sense ui made for WM though. so instead of porting windows to the EVO, how about is it possible to port the today plug-in to the EVO? HTC basically owns touchflo 3d right?

I just yesterday got an Evo. I am coming from a TP2 with the latest energy ROM (you rock dude) with 6.5. I loved my TP2. I've had it since the first day it released at sprint. I Never had 1 issue with WM or the hardware. I love how easy it was to hack (android is scaring me a bit with all the steps and command prompts). For me it was stable, responsive (thanks HTC) and did everything I wanted it to do.

I own my own biz and work alot with PDF's. So far wm wins hands down there. Office mobile, I love you and a WM win all the way around. I have multiple e-mail that are filtered to a hotmail account and then separated automatically into corresponding folders. With the windows live plugin I can use the sense tab to check ALL my folders not just the inbox. So again wm wins. Apps... Sorry wm droid all the way. I also never had an issue with using a stylus I miss it in fact, I find my self always miss pressing my evo. I have to pay for a GOOD remote desktop software that comes standard on wm. I did not have to hack my TP2 (just a few reg edits) to hotspot my phone eighter.

I don't know yet though, I will give droid a chance (thank you 30 day return policy) but I think I will be stickin with a TP2 for a while cause wm7 looks like just an app happy kids toy.

If I wasn's such a sprint and CDMA fan I would have went to T-Mobile and got an HD2 (gsm is horrible up here in NH). The only reason I upgraded was because I have had the phone for 2 or 3 years. It was getting physically tired. I could have gotten a new one for $100 after a mail in, on Ebay for $50 or used my insurance. But I wanted to give android a chance to impress I guess.

So to stay on topic... That would be awesome to have wm on the EVO but everybody is right. WM7 is here so wm6.x.x will have NO more support a year from now from Billy Gates. Legal issues and... "liability" (I hate that word ). It might work for some of us but that number is falling everyday. So, I wish, you wish, even he my wish, however, everybody else jumped the train and caught the android train.

P.S. Again I've only had this phone for 12 hours so far (8 of those I was asleep). So if anybody has a fix for any issues I pointed out please PLEASE post or PM.

Give it a chance. I spent 6 months debating the move to Android, and yeah, it took some getting used to. It sure doesn't have all the problems with WinMob, where you just about have to hack it just to make it work. Rooting is IMO essential. There are apps that only work with rooted phones like Titanium Backup (Which, BTW does everything SPB did and more) and it gives the opportunity to get rid of the bloatware. Give Android a chance, and you'll be amazed at the things it just does better.

I will give it a chance. Don't think I have a choice. Again WM 6.5 along with my TP2 ARE going to loose support very soon. So I feel in a corner that is fast shrinking.

Anyway the only real problem I am having with my EVO so far is the fact I can not get Hotmail to syn with the mail client. I can use the POP3 but that only receives and and does not check all my folders. I have to use the browser to manually check my e-mail... not cool.

Every new OS seems like a new town. After the initial excitment, you want to go back home. But you are here and when in Rome, do as the Romans. (be thankfull it is not Greece).
The OS's are different but Android is far superior. Once rooted, the entire enchillada is in your lap. WinMo is loosing.

I am purely objective. I make a living by writing Window programs for PC's. But right now, the Android is what's happening. Once there, talk to us.

Wow, we sure have our share of smart a$$e$ on this forum. The guy asked a legitimate question. I, for one, would love to have the chance to try out 6.5.3 on my Evo. I've had it since day one and it's great, but it's full of compromises too. I'm a business user, and Android is not yet ready for prime time. First, the VPN is a work-in-progress, and that makes things tough. I've had to come up with work-arounds for many things. The Exchange integration is someties problematic. I've actually been doing pretty well in that regard, but several of our users with Evos are constantly complaining about sync problems. On the entertainment side, I just spent two days re-ripping my music library because Android can't handle WMA files properly and get the songs in order and the cover art working. I would have gotten an HD2, but I won't leave Sprint. And one other thing; Someone was knocking the on-screen keyboard in WinMo. Well I'll tell you what, the on-screen keyboard on my TP2, while smaller than the Evo, was WAAAAY more accurate. This is by far my biggest complaint about the Evo.

well I had to download android Mail (from here) and Now my mail works. So That's another problem down.

Its been a few days and besides hardware I think I still prefer WM. If I could get 6.5 for my EVO I would say BYE BYE Android.

I am having problems now with working my PC at the office with my phone over the internet. I did not do it much but I did do it. Now I have to bring my laptop with me to do what I need. THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT A SMART PHONE 5 YEARS AGO!!! I was able to give up the laptop.

I do have to say one thing though. Android is AWESOME. I have not even tried rooting yet! It just does not work as good as WM for what I do with my phone. Like everybody says that knows what WM can do. WM is a business phone OS. I lays off of the mp3 playin, video watchin, useless app downloadin stuff for business usability. I am not saying WM can't do do that stuff its just vendor support is not as heavy.

So IF there is a smarty dev out there that is not afraid of Microsoft hitting them with fines. Go for it. I'll even pay-pal a few bucks to get it going .
