That being said, if I didn't swap out my phone every 6 months to a year, I'd reconsider the whole case thing...
I agree with you here. Once you add all those stuff, it might as well be a slide out keyboard type of phone.

However ... I was so nervous yesterday handing my 3D to people to take photos of us at the 4th. What if that person drop it?

Re: Are you protecting your 3D with case, protective screen, etc?

I went with the red and black Body Glove case from the sprint store. I used their slim hard plastic one on my 4G and the build quality sucked but it protected the phone just enough. Sprint replaced it 4 times over a year for stress cracks in the corners, so cant beat that.

I am now rocking the blue seidio active with holster. I love it. Almost like the convert but thinner and still shows off my awesome phone. I had otterbox defender but that was too bulky for my needs. I really like this active case. Only other case I still use is a clear tpu case that fits into a leather belt pouch for double protection. Works very well as it can be attached to a belt for a really secure fit.

I use the BodyGuardz full body clear protector and a side belt case (black or brown depending on the belt and shoes I am wearing. The BodyGuardz always helps my resale value on eBay. Been using them since 2007 on my last 6 smartphones.

I'm using a platinum case with holster and invisible shield. I'm not gonna lie, I miss a naked phone. But my 18 month old just lives to try to get ahold of it.

Re: Are you protecting your 3D with case, protective screen, etc?

I bought these..
The bodyGuardz for the carbon skinned body,
And for the face, I like Ghost Armor the best,
It has the smoothest surface out of the bunch..

otterbox defender for me too. I like it, adds a little bulk but it feels right.
