Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
I got a question about this.
This is the specifications list from Sprint.com, notice the two items in bold: __________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ Two 5.0 megapixel cameras, which can be used to capture both high-quality conventional and stunning 3D images and videos 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera 1.2 GHz dual-core processor Brilliant 4.3-inch QHD 3D screen Preloaded with Android™ 2.3 (“Gingerbread”) HTC Sense,™ the award-winning user experience that takes social networking, navigation and customization to new levels 1730 mAh lithium-ion battery 3G/4G speed and Wi-Fi—capable Mobile hotspot capability for up to eight Wi-Fi—enabled devices GPS Navigation Stereo Bluetooth® wireless technology microSD™ Card slot, 32-GB-capable 4 GB internal memory and 1 GB RAM Media player with 3.5 mm headset jack and micro USB Proximity, G-Sensor and light sensors Digital compass Built-in FM radio Live video sharing with Qik Download, view, edit and share HD-quality content from your phone HDMI-out via USB and DLNA World-class HTML browsing experience with the bandwidth and quality that rivals that of netbooks HD video capture at 720p and playback up to 1080p Personal and business email, IM and text message Social-networking integration with Facebook, ® Twitter,™ Flickr® and more Sprint apps including Sprint TV,® Sprint Football Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile℠ Visual Voicemail Google™ Mobile™ services including YouTube™, Gmail,™Google Talk,™ Google Voice,™ Google Maps™ and more Android Market,™ with access to more than 150,000 apps __________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ According to wikipedia: Android version history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dual core isn't supported till you get to version 3.0 of Android. Now I did see on some other websites that 2.4 was "suppose" to get dual core support but I'm baffled as to why HTC would release YET another device crippled right out of the gate? I realize that application support doesn't really exist yet, but I'd be happy if just one core could be used for "phone/modem chipset" support and the second cpu for applications and OS. Now granted HTC releases updates way faster then say--"Samsung" does but still that's pretty lame in my book if this turns out to be true... |

I want this phone. My husband wants my Evo and my 12yr old gets his Epic. Everyone is happy.

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
Have any of the other dual core manufactures listed their specifications set yet? Did they list multicore processor and decide to ship it with Android 2.3 which doesn't seem to support multicore? You don't consider this slightly deceptive advertising? As far as singling out HTC, I just call it as I see it. It's not like I'm promoting another phone or anything else to buy instead, in fact I believe I asked a question as to the validity of my assumption. What's the point of making a thread and only showing one side of an opinion? I too have been waiting, and waiting to get a new phone. This phone intrigues me, I just wish it worked as advertised at point of sale, it would make the decision to buy all that easier. I'm just irked that they promote a feature that seems that it'll take yet another software update after purchase to implement, but unlike Froyo doesn't say dual core support (coming soon). You'd think after the Epic fiasco, this topic wouldn't be so touchy. It's not like HTC never held back anything in their history before, say dedicated graphic drivers or anything, but I do admit that the issues with the EVO have been quickly fixed, I'm still shocked about them fixing the fps cap after they originally said, "it can't be done" and give them mad props for pulling that off.

Dual-core Comparison: HTC Sensation versus the rest of the dual-core world: smartphone spec sheet smackdown -- Engadget I wondered why HTC opted for 2.3 especially for the Evo View 4G/Flyer, but after briefly owning a Moto Xoom I see why, it's not ready!!! Sense 3.0 on super smooth Gingerbread thats had the bugs worked out (thanks Nexus S) is the way to go. Even if Icecream is released/announced soon it would be to late to be ready for Evo 3D luanch. Give me my 3D now and I'll upgrade as soon as the devs get a day with the code. This phone will not be "behind" many(read:any) phones for a while just like the Evo is STILL leading the pack only to be dethroned by the 3D. Gingerbread is new and still pretty exclusive most phones have yet to even be updated to it. So 2.3.3 is right where they should be if we're talking week 1 June release. |

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
More than likely ill get the evo 3d. Alot of people say they would go with the Galaxy s2. But i have the Epic and it just seems like Samsung takes forever to release major updates like Froyo and the gps isnt really a plus either. Im not saying the Galaxy s2 isnt a good phone. All Im saying is its from the same company that release the 1st one and to me they would have to really do something to really impress me other than the screen and the camara.

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
I have a Hero that has served well despite being abandoned by Sprint and HTC. I saw the coming of dual core phones and have been holding out. I am getting the 3D asap, even though I was tempted by the new Nexus....
