According to wikipedia:

Android version history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dual core isn't supported till you get to version 3.0 of Android. Now I did see on some other websites that 2.4 was "suppose" to get dual core support but I'm baffled as to why HTC would release YET another device crippled right out of the gate? I realize that application support doesn't really exist yet, but I'd be happy if just one core could be used for "phone/modem chipset" support and the second cpu for applications and OS.

Now granted HTC releases updates way faster then say--"Samsung" does but still that's pretty lame in my book if this turns out to be true...
Android 3.0 is the first OS version to have baked in dual-core support, but that doesn't mean the other versions 2.2 or 2.3 for example couldn't work with dual core. All of the dual-core phones that have been released or announced so far run on 2.2 or 2.3. Most are still on 2.2.

I wondered why HTC opted for 2.3 especially for the Evo View 4G/Flyer, but after briefly owning a Moto Xoom I see why, it's not ready!!! Sense 3.0 on super smooth Gingerbread thats had the bugs worked out (thanks Nexus S) is the way to go. Even if Icecream is released/announced soon it would be to late to be ready for Evo 3D luanch. Give me my 3D now and I'll upgrade as soon as the devs get a day with the code.

This phone will not be "behind" many(read:any) phones for a while just like the Evo is STILL leading the pack only to be dethroned by the 3D. Gingerbread is new and still pretty exclusive most phones have yet to even be updated to it. So 2.3.3 is right where they should be if we're talking week 1 June release.
