Re: Internet is Expensive

I would suggest just getting cheap DSL. AT&T offers DSL without a phone line for really cheap now and even though the bandwidth isn't great it is usually always there and works for me.

Re: Internet is Expensive

OP, I'm not sure using the PAM is right for you. from your posts, it sounds like you download a lot of torrents. I should probably warn you that in your TOS they can cancel your contract for excessive use of data. so while your unlimited data plan may not have the 5GB cap, I think they still use that as a bench mark to determine excessive use. So in other words, if you're planning on using more than 5GB a month, I would suggest getting an actual internet provider.

Re: Internet is Expensive

using my phone as modem is faster than my pathetic qwest dsl, at least for downloads, but you can't use it while you're on your cell phone, that's why I have dsl although I'm thinking of switching to comcast for their faster internet. I would be wary of overusing the unlimited data though, I have heeard they cap it as well (limited unlimited, don't you just love it!).

Ditto. One of the "let downs" I had when I upgraded to the Diamond was how much slower the net was while tethering with it. Not turtle slow, but noticeable. Nowadays I don't notice it anymore, and probably would have forgot if you hadn't mentioned it, lol! But yeah, the Mogul was noticeably faster with page loads and stuff.

I recall a few threads about the matter here, but no one had any solution. Meh, I'm happy now. Hell, it's FREE, lol

On another note, I wonder will 4G WiMax "count" as Sprint Data when it rolls out to phones? He he, I'll keep "free" for as long as possible, lol

Re: Internet is Expensive

Depends on your use case. Tethering at the airport and outside of home is great for browsing and such. At home though, I need a much better connection (currently 5Mbps) for gaming, downloading/uploading, and netflix live streaming. Also as mentioned earlier, the inability to call & use data simultaneously is a showstopper.
