Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware

Well after a night and a day here's the answer to my problems with my TP. It seems there's a programming issue with both diamond and touch pro in the Puerto Rico Sprint Network. This causes these issues: Even when it says EVDO our phones are not connected to the network fully, so you can't surf and even phone calls don't come thru the majority of the times. Since the phone internally keeps trying to connect to the network it causes the battery to drain at a rapid pace and therefore making it very hot. They are working on this issue and was told a patch should be comming out a.s.a.p. I was offered a full refund but I decided to keep my TP and just swap esn's and keep using my mogul 6800 until this is resolved. If you are in the PR Sprint Network be advised your Diamonds and Touch Pro's will not funcion correctly unless your in a 1X all the time or in roaming.. Hope this gets fixed sooon I really want to use my new phone.

No wonder why I moved away from PR.

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware

I'm live PR and mine works fine as far as signal for phone calls. What doesn't work is the EVDO Rev. A on my phone but if I disable it the standard EVDO internet works fine. Hopefully this will be fixed.

You should post this in the Touch Pro forum as well.

I'm at PR too and find that problem the hard way. To use my phone I changed the settings to CDMA only and I can connect to the internet. I don't know about the network speed because this is my first Sprint phone, my last one was a Hermes from ATT.

If you go into the #778, enter your msl and choose view info. A drop down menu should come down and you can pick data parameters from there. Where it says EVDO Rev. A you should turn it to disabled. This fix is for people who can't get an internet connection.

I live in PR as well and found out exactly this fix myself. My Diamond works fine with EVDO Rev.0 while they get the Rev.A issues sorted out. This might require a different radio update for us PR users or some changes on their towers. I got two high up contacts in PR's technical department, the technical director of tower provisioning and one of the field managers. They are keeping me up to date and they still don't know wich solution will be implemented.

As for my EVDO experience, the phone has been awesome even with only Rev.0 and my D/L speeds have varied from 500k - 1,400k on DSL Report's MSpeed.

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware

I know of ONE person with a Diamond who fought back and forth with Sprint about his internet provisioning and Rev.A issues and he supposively has his Diamond running with Rev.A here in PR.

He's one of my employee's cousins and I'm pending to get into contact with him to get some feedback from him and see if he in fact is on Rev.A or on Rev.0 like some of us found out works.

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware

BTW, they pulled the Diamond from local stores and are delaying the TP on local stores until this is resolved. jejeje I guess I'm lucky.

EDIT: Raydog, the fix we are mentioning for the Diamond's should work for your TP as well. Swapt your ESN back to your TP, perform the fix and enjoy the hell out of your new phone. Rev.0 is good enough until they get it fixed and trust me I hammer on my phone's data plan every day, synching exchange ever 15 minutes, using lots of google, and UPS, Fed Ex tracking while on the road, looking up contacts on the online yellow pages, streaming news through Sprint TV in my morning comute, etc etc...
