Tethering is using your phone as an Internet connection on your PC or usually a laptop. With Telus in Canada it is very expensive to do.

I'm not sure how it works with Sprint but they have found a way to not be charged. I assume they have some other plan with Sprint setup.

Hey there,

Also a noob with the tethering thing, and this question may be a stupid one considering the registery changes are probably specific to the sprint network. I'm actually with Telus in Canada, and I'm curious if the program in the first post would work with telus phones? if not, are there any tethering options for telus phones yet so we can avoid the tethering fee as well?

Thanks!

Yes, I've been using PDANet working from a client's office for a week straight. I've never been charged or paid for the tetheirng plan.

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

Sorry for the Newb question, but how do I tether with the diamond? I'm upgrading from a PPC6700, and I remember when I set up my PPC connection (years ago) I simply had to run the program sprint gave us on the phone, and the CD that came with the phone had a PPC6700SP dialer program. Its worked great for years.

Now with the diamond, I tried (after installing this cab) turning on "internet sharing" and it says "check USB cable" on the phone, and my PC doesn't recognize the phone as a modem? I tried running the PPC6700 dialer and I get "remote error". I tried adding a dialup connection in control panel and again it doesn't show my diamond as a modem.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can anybody tell me how to set this up?

Start the ICS App, Connect Phone To PC, Then Hit Connect In ICS App; Should Work.

I also upgraded from a PPC 6700 and did exactly as "shcwartz" described on the Diamond. I then plugged the Dimaond into my PC/Laptop via USB. No extra steps or programs are required on the PC/Laptop. Just what "Schwartz" describes and the following registry changes:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint PCS"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0
