They were both very sure that the release would not be until after Sept 2. It is definitely delayed, they just aren't sure how long. Perhaps it is only our region (Metro DC), but both store managers gave me very similar responses with no coaching from me, so I feel it's pretty legit. Both were very aware of online speculation, as they were both dying to get the phone. They also said they only received the information about the delay today.

Re: Touch Diamond release date!

Correct. Per an internal Sprint release brief the HTC Diamond is due out 9/14.

FYI - per the same document the Touch Pro is due out 10/19.

FYIA - Why get a Diamond when the Touch Pro is due out a month later and is 2x the phone?

Re: Touch Diamond release date!

believe it or not there are many that don't want a hard keyboard, me being one of them.
I am going from a mogul to the diamond and I will not miss the keyboard at all.

Given i would love to have more than 4gig of memory but hey, i can live with the 4gig.

To each is his own.

Re: Touch Diamond release date!

I've been wrestling with which one to get for quite some time. The only reason I wanted to Touch Pro was for the keyboard. I've tried to use different on-screen keyboards and I just don't get the speed and accuracy of a slide out (i have a ppc-6700).

The one thing that I don't like about the Touch Pro is the size. I really would like to be able to keep my phone in a pocket. yes, I can do so with both my 6700 and the Touch Pro, but it does add considerable bulk to the pocket area.

I downloaded the HTC Diamond keyboard for my 6700 and I have to say, I actually like it better than Touch Pal or the other options, it's exactly what I need, not too much and configured the way I would use it.

So, that sealed it for me, Diamond it is. It also means I can replace my old 6700 a month earlier! And since it's cheaper than a Touch Pro, I can add a Bluetooth headset without feeling too guilty.

I'm confused. You have a 6700 right now, correct? That's bigger than the Touch Pro, so I don't get why your issue with the Touch Pro would be the size? The 6800 (Mogul) was even smaller than the 6700.

Can you elaborate? I just want to make sure I'm understanding where your logic is coming from.

Also, in case you hadn't seen the specs, the Diamond is only going to be 4mm thinner than the Touch Pro (since they added the bigger battery to the CDMA Diamond).
