Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

First, Thanks tobeychris for the GPS instructions. They were great, and GPS is working.

The FM radio program has been conveniently omitted from the Diamond as supplied, despite the inclusion of what appears to be the radio receiver (cleverly called a "Multifunction Audio Cable". I am sure this is to encourage the use of the data plan by using the RSS.

From my research it appears that with the radio application, the FM Radio would work, simply by plugging the headset into the "Multifunction Audio Cable", which is a small rectangular shaped extender device with a USB plug on a cord as well as 4 various plugs in the device. The supplied stereo headphones act as the antenae.

The Diamond is shown in YouTube videos with a supplied radio application and the specs from HTC clearly show that the radio function is integrated.

I would like to install an application that would enable the FM Radio? Can I purchase the standalone application? Or can I download the HTC Radio App from somewhere?

Any suggestions, ideas, fixes etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

From my understanding, the FM radio was only applicable to the GSM Diamond.

I would like to try installing the app from the GSM phone, but have no access to it. I have a sneaky suspicion it would work.

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread

Thanks for trying Juggalo X. I hate being defeated. I was sure it would be simple fix for a simple thing. The reason I thoiught the reciever would be in there somewhere is that companies don't like to change the assembly line, so it only made sense that they would have one design for the hardware which included the radio. The customer would then decide which features would be utilized, and determined by the software supplied. Just like the GPS is fixed to use a data plan only when bought, Telus doesn't give the customer the option of the stand-alone GPS. I am not particularily computer savvy, but worked through the instructions posted by tobeychris and got it working. Not too many people are willing or able to do this. It does really cheese me off that they would do this. Oh, well... if you or anyone does find a solution or a definative answer to this, I will be watching for it. Thanks again.
