You won't find any good, free GPS solutions... not unless you look really hard.

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread
My GPS is working great with Google maps. Do I really need to run QuickGPS? What difference will it make. I get a lock in 10 secs from a cold start and 1sec from a warm start.

And, I tried everything to get my GPS working. I hard reset twice. Finally, my recipe is 1) Go into Settings, Personal, Phone, Services, Location Settings, and turn to On. 2) Install BeeLineGPS, to get your GPS autoconfigured, so you know which settings are best for your phone (Port and Baud). 3) Use Microsoft Live Search. Now I get a fix in less than 5 sec., OK for most people. Hope this will help. |

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread
Question - Has anyone figured out how to get regular headphones to work with the Telus supplied "splitter" that comes with the phone. I plug the splitter into the phone and my old ipod earbuds into the headphone jack on the splitter.... but nothing... phone doesn't recognize headphones as being attached and sound comes out the phone, not the headphones.
Tried to find the answer in the documentation, but there's no reference to the splitter at all. Anyone? Also, why am I having troubles transferring files OFF the phone (4Gb internal card) using Active Sync Explorer but I can do it by using the phone as a disc drive if I specify that option instead of Active Sync on connection? Very strange behavior. file:///L:/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/Photo11.jpg |

I'm not sure what your problem with file transfer is. In theory you should get faster file transfer if you select the hard drive option when you plug it into the USB port but frankly I haven't noticed any difference using Windows Explorer in either mode. I am using Vista and Windows Mobile Device Centre functions somewat differently than Active Sync soYMMD if you are using XP. |

Re: Official Telus Diamond Thread
For myself, I dont use ActiveSync at all. It screwed up my phone on the first run. I have 3 email accounts in my Outlook and 2 MSN Messenger open all the time, that stupid thing loaded ALL my contacts from ALL my accounts!!
Now, take a minute and try to figure out how much time I could have wasted figuring what contact goes with wich one of my 2 compagnies and wich ones are friends. I cleared it all up and transfered them manually. Now, when I plug the phone, it opens an explorer window right away, just like I want it! And by the way, a friend tried to put 2gb of music to his Diamond and it took for ever with ActiveSync, on the other hand, it took less then a minute for me using it as an HD... I think thats a pretty good difference there! Last edited by SINasTER; 09-14-2008 at 12:38 AM. |
