The TP2 was not heralded as an upgrade to the TP1..it was more called as the TP1 done right..even though we like the device..we are still angry at HTC for not upgrading the CPU and not including drivers...

That said, if the Fathom came out at the time the TP2 did..the TP2 may not have been so great...and thats EXACTLY whats gonna happen..by the time the Pro7 comes out..there will be 1-2 month till the dual core snap dragons and etc..do you really want to be stuck with an outdated device while everyone else has one 2x a powerful?

THe difference is there was nothing in the industry to compare it too, the tp2 in its time was the best even if it was behind in tech the industry set the standard and for keyboard wm device their was no other option or platform, android was in its infant stage at tp2 launch and the 3.7 screen was the industry's best for size. NOW wp7 pro has 3.6 (fail) and android is mature(another fail) (i still dislike android tho) an old chipset (fail) compared to the industry. The tp2 was behind at launch but it was the in the latest and greatest due to the industry arguments now for a device to launch in March behind all the other devices is behind the industry and behind the eight ball. At least they could have given it a 2nd gen snapdragon with 4" screen.

The biggest problem i see happening is if this device launches in March the EVO2 is suppose to launch late march early april and its rumored to have the third gen snapdragon with 1.2mhz and with Gingerbread.
Now i dislike android but im sure google and is paying attention to wp7 and gingerbread if not then honeycomb will probably have some wp7 like competitive apps if they decide to launch a evo2 pro say bye bye to wp7 pro competing.
IF the wp7 pro was launching in nov then an good argument could be made but a half year later is a waste of tech and resources but im sure it still will sell well to patsies. lmao

Its going to be a real tough battle for M$ in general...its good they got a big partner like AT&T on board but at the same time it is also a handicap...mostly since AT&T did the 6month in advanced on the iphone...and then after released the captivate...which pretty much means most people who have an upgrade till the end of the year will not have it as they got an iphone and those that don't like iphones got the captivate..so only people they got left to target are those that don't like iphones and don't like android >.> (and both iphone4 and captivate have better specs)..they should have went out the door with the pro7 with the other devices at the very least :/

I think there's more room for success than for fail.
I know a bit about phones... And I'm buying WP7 and I'm buing the 7Pro.
Many of us wil not have much of a choice when it comes to Sprint and WP7 at least at first. However... Alot of us are so familiar with the keyboard and the phone itself that it will be a natural transition.
I think others curious about the OS and victims of marketing will come check it out as well.
What will make a massive difference between people who don't know any better will be the price point. My wife refuses to spend much money on her phones.
She has my old TP cuz she didn't want to spend. Now she wants to try a Blackberry and will not get the Bold because of the price.
Microsoft has to make some good deals with the manufacturers and the retailers in order to keep the price point down. Once the market is exposed... The faster processors and better harware may be offered for demanding customers at premium prices.
Till then... This is what we have to choose from.

I agree with your choices its better than nothing but trash is trash hence me staying away, I really want a wp7 option but not at the expense of my my intelligence, because even if wp7 was to fail if i had a superior chipset i probably could mod it making the device fail-proof but this is doomed to fail.

I believe the phylosophy here is that EP7 is crisp and able to run on much lower speeds. Not at processor heavy and therefore a 1 ghz processor should suffice.
Again. This is release 1.0. Processor Overkill would be just that and possibly waste on top of that. As more and more demanding programs/games come out there may be a need for a much better processor. But till then... This is what's in front of us.

I doubt your intelligence is on trial here. Wait for the release... Go to the store... Play with it... Then decide if it's still a fail in your eyes.
I feel it's not a fail...

I will take my own advise.

The good thing is that we have choices. WP7 is but one of them.

So here we are back at square one and other than a little bit higher post count... I doubt that any of what we have to say really makes any kind of difference in the overall scheme of things.

But one thing we also have to remember is one of the things that made iOS was the fact that they put in specs ahead of the curve with the future in mind...it just does not seem like a step forward >.>
