Sprint insurance question: Should I be covered?

I plugged in my 6700 and noticed it wasnt charging. After further notice i saw that the port where the charger goes in is broke. The plastic wasnt there and i can see 4 metal wires sticking out.

I went to get it repaired and the guy said I'd have to file a claim with the insurance since the board is damaged and they can't repair that?

My question is why is it my fault that they can't repair it? After looking over the contract I dont see why I shouldnt be covered to get a replacement. No damage due to "acts of god"(cant believe it actually says that), water, fire.... I didnt damage the phone myself or misuse it. The only way i see this happening is as they say normal wear and tear (of me plugging/unpluggin my phone for the last 18+ months.)

The big thing that pisses me off is i went and tried to start my insurance claim and they tell me i have to send in all these documents and get something notarized. In the mean time waiting for them to send me the documents then the turnaround time and then for them to send me the phone i'm just stuck with a phone i can only charge when i'm home at night by placing the battery in the cradle. I work on the road all day so i'm lucky if i have a phone for half the day.
