I've noticed a significant battery drain w/ pr6. Is this just me or are others experiencing the same thing?

I was thinking the same thing actually, thought it was just me.

I am still running my stock battery, I think it is just getting old and wore out. and the OS rom version isn't to blame for that

Don't forget to immediately change the IR to off (receive all beams) and to turn down the screen brightness. Both suck power.

Running stock as well, notice a difference from PR5 to PR6 though, Saridnour, anything of the top of your head could be the cause?

Regarding power, as I mentioned earlier, don't forget all the settings you've probably tuned in PR5 that are back to the power hungry defaults in PR6. These include
IR setting (Turn "Receive all incoming beams" off)
Screen Brightness and Timing
Sleep Timing
Have you set it for frequent POP or other network access?
You don't have XCPUScaler on, do you?
Network left on?

Also, don't overlook the small little factor that you're playing with everything non-stop since it's a new toy. Has your usage shot up a wee bit?

so much program memory

so I installed pr6 best build thusfar, however It seems that memory usage is at an all time high

at an idle I am showing 12megs program free.

memmaid shows:
device.exe 3.22 megs
voicmd.exe 2.82 megs
filesys.exe 2.70 megs
gwes.exe 2.54 megs
shell32.exe 2.29 megs
etc ...

is this "normal" or did I error somewhere?

Actually the only setting I changed to save battery life in PR5 was time sync. I never unchecked the beam setting or lowered the brightness. Everything is set exactly how it was with all previous versions but I do notice a significant power drain in this one compared to the others. Apparantly I'm not the only one experiencing this either. I haven't played with the ROM any more than I have the other versions. There's something else going on in the ROM causing the battery drain and it's not the obvious.

Oddly enough I noticed the same thing today. After a full charge I went to the mall for a couple of hours and my battery went down to 20% after minimal use of the phone and data.

I'll check the IR thing. Maybe that's the culprit. I'm usually very careful when it comes to power usage and made sure nothing else was running.

Starting with a 90% of my regular-sized battery this morning, I've talked approx an hour, did gps for about two hours, listened to music maybe two hours, took a couple of photos, browsed the Internet for a half hour, viewed a couple of videos. I still have 30% of the battery left. I don't think I did any better on pr5.
