Alarm continues to sound

I've really enjoyed using this ROM, but recently ran into some trouble using the alarm. For some reason I can't seem to shut it off. I've pressed all buttons, unchecked relevant boxes, and did a couple of soft resets. It gradually gets less frequent and seems to eventually stop, but this is without my control. Anyone else run into this problem and can advise on a solution?

I'm highly awaiting the next version of this ROM (just registered for this forum to say this!). It's an awesome rom, very fast, and I love the software included on it. There are a few things I wouldn't mind seeing on the rom, but then isn't that always the way?

I'd like:

Pocketputty
Google Maps
vxUtils
Some more today screen themes!

Also, you might want to replace phoneon.wav and phoneoff.wav to save some space, as they're nearly a meg combined.

Thanks,
Michael

My experience with Battery Life and various ROMS.

saridnour,

Well, I've been busy flashing lots of roms this week, trying to find one that gave me better than the 5 - 6 hour battery life - in standby - which I thought was an issue with the custom roms. This is with two different brand new standard size Li-ion and Li-Po batteries. My connection strength is EVDO which varies between 1 & 2 bars in my home office.

Turns out that Direct Push being on - even with minimal email traffic - 4-10 in the 5-6 hours the battery lasted - completely wipes the battery. I tried Colonel's, Jeff Kirven's latest Clean and Simple, even went back to Verizon's latest offiicial 2.2 and tried WideAwake's custom 2.2 - to find I had the same miserable battery life with each one. The 3.5s actually performed marginally better than the 2.2 roms.

With Direct Push off, I got 10 hours from a busy session today that included re-flashing to your pr6 rom and all the customization after that to set the phone back up. I read other posts in this thread complaining of poor battery life, but it really doesn't seem to be the rom, just the implementation of Direct Push from MS even in the standard 2.2 roms. The earlier 2.x roms didn't perform this poorly.

I've adjusted to a timed delivery schedule in the Activesync schedule settings and it has made a huge difference. I no longer see my battery go from 100% to 70% in one hour of sitting on my desk not being used.

Thought I'd pass this on in case it could benefit others.

BTW, my install (3rd time around for various testing) of your pr6 is working great!

Regards.
Chris

djumbie,

I had the problem with alarms that won't shut off on a Treo 700wx. The problem seems to be with Window Mobile not removing the Notifications. I'm guessing the way it works it when you check it it adds them to a Notifications queue, but for some reason they never get removed.

To resolve the problem download the file below. Then run the TaskMgr.exe on the phone. You will see a list of active processes initially, but located in the upper right corner of the application is a drop down arrow. Select it and select notifications. Now at this point I can't remember which Notifications were alarm specific, but I remember there were quite a few identical ones and they all related to the alarm, so hopefully it will be easy to identify the alarm ones and just remove them.

BTW, after removing the notifications the issue didn't reoccur when setting the alarm again, and this was several months ago, so hopefully it won't crop up on you again.

I noticed that when using a bluetooth headset the rom is programmed to send the ringtones of the phone somehow to the headset. How can I shut that off so the bluetooth headset's ringer works instead of the phones.

Is there a registry edit that was done for this or any other items for a bluetooth headset. I want to remove them and try the headset ou.

Thank you, Great ROM!!!

msiegle,
Thanks so much for the tip. I actually couldn't find the exact notification entry and out of frustration deleted all of them. It seems to have fixed it! This probably messed a bunch of other stuff up, but for now I'm happy having the thing shut up. Thanks again.

Sound in PIE

I am running this ROM and am using the website xstreamxm to listen to XM radio, and it doesn't seem to work with PIE.

It does work with MiniMo, but I would prefer to use PIE, and have WMP or MortPlayer automatically pop up, like a desktop would.

Is there a plug-in or setting that I am missing in PIE, or is this too much to ask from a CE device?

Since this ROM doesn't have IDTransfer installed by default, I'm going to guess that you didn't install it and that you use MSVC with default settings. What you are hearing is just the beginning of the ringtone, correct?
Go into the Voicecommand settings and in the Phone;Options uncheck "Announce incoming calls".
All will be right with the world.

I use Orb with PIE. In Orb I can select the type of streaming format. I use PLS; though sometimes I've used ASX. To get my media player to open, I just associate the appropriate format with that player. When I click on the media in PIE, the player opens. I guess this is what you're trying to do? I've been unsuccessful in getting Mortplayer to work with Orb, even after setting the file associations. If you'll look around this forum and others you'll see that WMP is notoriously poor at playing streaming format. Your best bet is probably TCPMP. Actually, I use Conduits' Pocket Player, but it's a commercial product.

jendand,
Thanks for the reply. The problem that I am having is that no media player pops up when I go to the site (using PIE). I have tried associating TCPMP and MortPlayer both with .asx file types (making them default), and no luck. When I use MiniMo, whatever player I have set as default pops up when I select launch, but WMP is the only one that actually plays music. I edited my settings for PIE, to set it back to look like 4.01, instead of 6, and that didn't help either.
