jendand: yes just reset right after the welcome setup and just before the 3-second warrning.

PolloLoco: You will need to extract the rom to get the files as the files in rom are set as read only and can not be coppied. Just follow the instructions for creating a rom found here: http://ppcgeeks.com/how-to-build-you...rom-t2124.html just go as far as creating the dump folder as this will contain all the files that are in the rom. Then just copy out the pieces you are after. (Really a simple process along the lines of uncompressing the nbf file).

Sar question... I tried to do the Radio update as stepped out in the "update bit by bit... shall we?" thread... Im currently using this ROM.. but it told me that it was not design to my device to find ROM for my device. But it is actually the ROM ON my phone currently...

Bit confused. Any instructions/tips on how to do the Radio update? I have the radio nbf file from the post.

Was this file changed recently? I installed it last week and loved it. Yesterdays download has missing wallpapers and the themes seem to have shifted a bit.

saridnour,

I followed your steps from a previous post.

1- Remove your SD card.
2- Hard reset,
3- Download and reload the latest PR6.
4- Hard reset and go through welcome skipping all.
5- soft reset instead of running the extended rom.
6 -Now soft reset as many times as you can with the device locked and unlocked. Try tapping the screen during resets and try loading bubblebreaker from time to time and see if you can repro a lock or the issue with BB not loading.

Soft reset 30 times. Not a single screen lockup. BB loaded fine each time I tried it. Remember, before, with fully customized phone and with all my apps loaded, I was getting lockups on soft reset 20% of the time. And I might also remind you that I was getting this 20% lockups on a near fully charged battery.

Then I did a hard reset and let the phone go through the customization, but still no sd card and no other apps.

Then I did 25 more soft resets. There was one lockup. This lockup was unusual in that the green/red battery bar did not appear at the top of the locked-up screen. In all the other lockups I've had the bar has always been there. So, I think this lockup had a different cause from all those other's I've observed.

The lowest my battery was during all of this was 50%.

Basically, I'd say the phone is not locking up when my apps aren't loaded and sd card isn't installed. Guess I'll give my reset button a rest and load the remainder of my stuff. Hope this information is helpful!!

saridnour,

I have been able to simulate the situation with the stock battery, the verizon extended battery, and the extended battery for Silo I think. In all situations I was able to recreate the problem.

Because the batteries were all in a low state already I thought I would take a plunge, and try with the default rom from Verizon.

GUESS what same situation; but lock up was less frequent.

Next steps I took today was to test this on another xv6700, and I have the same problem and my brother in law mention this was something he had noticed with PR5..

So I can not localize this to your ROM at all but something else.

Now I am trying to figure out a method by which I can have the device monitor its configuration at all times and record to a log on the SD card or something. Anybody have anyideas so I can narrow my focus.

Was think of further testing with 2.2 and then calling for support..

**NOTE** This only happens within a low battery state, other than that I have no issues with the ROM

Thoughts

saridnour,

More experiments:

In total, I did 70 more resets with various configurations. (I'm sure my reset button will be the first thing to go... ) All of this is with a nearly full battery.

Continuing from last time with a clean install of pr6 and the customization, I moved VC.exe to windows and installed Pocket Player and Mobipocket on the SD card. Then did a series of resets, some with, some without the SD card. Got about 25% lockups either way.

Then I removed Pocket Player and Mobipocket programs from device. So the only app in there was VC.exe in windows. Did another series of soft resets both with and without the sd card, and got about 40% lockups.

Then I hard reset and customized and put VC.exe in windows and changed #5 button and NOTHING else. Did another series of soft resets, both with SD card and without. Either way, got about 25% lockups.

So, to summarize what seems important:

Hard reset + customization = No soft reset lockups.

Hard reset + customizaton + VC.exe in Windows and fix #5 button = 25% lockups.

verizonprisoner: I have not changed the rom, but the ftp is open for others to "play" with files so it could have been hacked. Is anyone else seeing a problem? I can re-up the file tonight to be safe but that will not be possible until 6pm pst.

schwos: were you able to try resetting the device like I mention in the earlier post (and what jendand had done). Jendand had some interesting observations in his tests and wondered if you would see anything similar. Are you using Voicecommand? If so are you copying the file or installing the whole package?

jendand: If you are adding in voice command, I can give you instructions on how to re-package my rom and get vc in the build and set your reg to button 5 as well as map button 5. I can give you the two files that would be different and you could repack the rom to have them. This way you could see if it is an issue with the files being in memory rather than the rom as well as see if starting them in the the same order I do corrects your issue. Let me know if you want to try this. It is an easy process.

saridnour,

I'm game if you'll tell me what to do. The Idiot's Guide version of the instructions will be appreciated!

jendand

PS -- Relative to verisonprisoner's post, I downloaded and reinstalled pr6 last night and saw no problems. Is he saying it was corrupted somehow?

I was just reading on another forum...
After installing this AKU/ROM, should we NOT install one of the earlier extROMs? I currently use your pr5 ROM (I'll move to pr6 when I have a few hours to reinstall stuff this week) and PPCGeeks Sprint NoJunk extROM. Seems to work well, but on the PDAPhonehome forum, there was some discussion about how the extROM install could ruin some of the "creamy goodness" of these new AKU3.5 ROMs.

I just noticed what verizonprisoner wrote about the themes and wallpapers. Odd. I installed this I think about two weeks ago?? I think? LOL but I have no idea what themes/wallpapers he's talking about. Was I supposed to have different themes now also?
