Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
Like I said in my other post on one of your other threads, I can help but think you just need to update to a newer ROM so try this one here.
Just so you and everyone else know it is a WM5 ROM nd is named Kirvins 3.5 build 1.02. It is very fasy and stable and I think you will like it. Mind you it is for VZW users so dont no sprint userd go trying to use it and PM me on why it doesnt work for them. With it you will have no wifi issues. IE is up to date and like I said, I think you will like it and find it much more easy and stress-free. For WiFi on it you simply go to your Connection Mngr and enable WiFi. From there go to Menu -> WiFi Settings -> choose the WiFi connection and this is where you will start to configure the wireless settings. So on this first screen just go next and the next screen will already have what type Authentication and Data Encryption Type you are going to use on this particular connection so just enter your encryption key. Now remember that WM5 will do both WEP and WPA and if you are using WPA then make sure you choose TKIP. So after entering your key click next and then finish. It will go back to the screen with the available WiFi spots and should show you connected although it could still take a few seconds. Once it is connected you can just go and open IE and surf. I am not going to get into specifying IPs and DNSs or what adapters to choose to specify that because if you use the ROM I linked above then you will be hard resetting and everything at default will be fine.

If you're using Vista then you might have outdated drivers. I don't keep up on those old junk WM5 ROMS but you might be using one that doesn't work on the newer bootloader.

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
Well that means one thing. USE THE KITCHEN and use a WM6 or 6.1 rom. C'mon WM5 is trash. Slow, bad battery life, and lack of features.

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
Please entertain me, if whatever ROM you are using is slow, it is because your ROM is full ,much like when your HDD on your PC gets over 80-85% full. Bad battery, no, only is your battery is old and weak. As for lack of features, tell me what WM6 gives you that you cant do in WM5?

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
and I have the Palm Threaded SMS in my 67 with WM5, Push email can be installed on WM5 and as a matter of FACT I KNOW it can come with it because I had a buddy get a replacement 67 that had it and had the logo on splashscreen that also identified it. HTML mail is fine and all but who wants to bog down the unit loading graphics and banners?
If you or anyone else wants the Palm Threaded ApP (which is better than the threaded SMS in WM6) then just PM me. Keep in mind the Palm couldnt be added in the Kitchen due to copyright infringements. Last edited by weedahoe; 08-11-2008 at 08:52 AM. |

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
Even if I flash with WM6.1 I can't turn on my wifi. Is there a super secret squirrel method for forcing wifi on via the regisrty?

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?
Okay, Flash again with the kitchen, and include Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool (or just Google for it and install it on what you already have.) I am using version 2.02.1.0.0 of the tool if there is any question...
Start the tool, then click on Menu, then click on Comm Manager settings... Make sure there is a check in the box next to Wireless LAN, then click on OK. (Don't change anything else.) Click on Done. Click on Yes when it asks to Reset... After the reset, the icon for the wireless should be available on the Comm Manager Screen... |
