Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?

Related possibly?, I just installed a few add on programs and each time it gave me a warning: "This program file is from an unknown publisher...". I don't normally get this error, especially when the program is from microsoft. Is there a possibility that the tiacxwln.dll driver is unsigned or not being recognized by some lacking certificate or such?

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?

Yes, that is what is so puzzling. You should have had a different result if you could flash out of it. But you can't seem to. So everytime you go back to WM5 do u use the AKU2 ROM? Seems to me that VZW disabled WIFI initially when they introduced the phone many moons ago. Did you ever try the AKU3.3 VZW WM5 upgrade?

I can't understand why the card won't work unless the slot is dead. I also read about turning off the phone radio and clicking the card in and out to get it to activate.

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?

Yah, I flashed to AKU3.3 a few times too. Oddly enough, I flashed that upgrade in an effort to get wifi back sometime in May. With no luck, I went ahead and cooked 6.1 in a few different varieties. I've flashed down several times to AKU2.2, swapped radios, installed different fixes (WAP-PSK and such). The strangest part is that the Spectec card lights up, the driver works, I can use the WLAN utility, but it doesn't show any networks even though I'm sitting 25 feet from an open WAP (11b, don't get any silly ideas about having me tweak the WAP - I've tried connecting to several dozen and I don't have access to configure the one nearest me). There are also several open networks around me. I've been tweaking this for several months now.

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?

Sorry, running out of ideas. Everything I've seen says the card should work in the 6700 but I've really not seen any posts where any1 has ever used it. Read one post where they soft reset w/o card b4 inserting card. Seems like it could be a recognition problem. Sometimes the order u do things makes a big difference. Also good if Bluetooth is off. Again the card only does "b" so u would have to be in sutuations where the router/AP was set to "g" only. That seems a bit far fetched since u have tried alot of hotspots. From the specs it should be able to handle WPA security...anyway secured networks should still show up as available. Last thing u might try is flashing a WM6 ROM and running the 6.0 driver. That would exhaust your options from that standpoint. I'd still try the "bad 3.3 update that killed the WIFI" story with VZW, though...

Re: Which Wi-Fi Card In the 6700?

Yup, been there done that.

As the case may be, in my quest to get wifi to work I reverted to WM5.0 with the OEM Rom, spent a few weeks tweaking with that and just now tried to install the OEM AKU3.3 upgrade which got me stuck in bootloader. I'd say that qualifies for a return no?
