Xarses -

I am not using the built in alarm, I have tried several alarm programs and most worked for a while but they were unreliable. I believe that every program is at the mercy of the notification queue for any type of timed event due to their nature. I am currently using "Spb Time" for my alarm, it is an excellent program with many nice features but it exhibits the same problem. When you add an alarm, it creates an entry in the notification queue called "\windows\SpbTimeNotify.exe" to execute at the specified time. If the notification queue hangs then I don't think that it matters what program you are using, your notifications will get screwed up.

My point is that I believe that many, if not all, of the notification problems stem from a fundamental system problem caused by a Windows cleanup process. If the auto cleanup (clocknot.exe, calnot.exe, repllog.exe) in the notification queue are corrected to point to their proper directory then it may fix all of the problems.

But then again, this is just my opinion...

Thanks for the awesome ROM. Loaded it last night and it works very well. Threw in a few add-ons, and I'm happy with my phone again.

this ROm is great. One question. This ROM's phone keypad has a sepaseparate button for talk and end. Other ROms have a phone keypad where the talk turns into end when pushed and the end goes back to talk when finished. They also have a button for speed diall. any idea where I could get the the one that shows speed diall? TIA

more stable than unified rom?

ok, guess this is a compliment...i thought i would try to make my own rom, been using kirvins clean and simple. i took out MSN and added pocket plus and diary and installed it, went fine, but seems like the clean and simple rom runs more smoothly. had a couple lock ups which i never had with kirvin's. is there more that was dont to the clean and simple rom? i didnt need the live stuff, but guess i can live with it until there is a new clean and simple with the unified rom! thanks for any input...

Welcome to the Clean and Simple Generic Apache ROM, now based on the released Unified Kitchen! This should be the lightest and quickest AKU 3.5 ROM available for any HTC Apache.

What's missing:

Transcriber
Stupid T9 input panel
ClearStorage
Some unnecessary graphics
Cyberon Voice Dial
WModem (Internet Sharing is included and replaces WModem)
A few other minor deletions, think of this ROM as "finely sculpted" ;^)

What's added:

WM6 Crossbow themes
OSX Graphite keyboard skin, which goes nicely with the WM6 stuff
Calibri and Cambria fonts from Office 2007
Midlet Manager, a Java virtual machine (for running things like the mobile Gmail applet)
Some registry tweakage ("She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself.")

As always, installation is pretty simple. Just plug in your device USB and run the installer. Follow the directions.

Disclaimer: No official support for this, kids, but really, it's just about impossible to irreversibly brick these phones. Just follow the directions and you'll be fine.

Hey, Jeff -

Thanks for all the hard work!

I've been (and still am) using your 3.5 "No Junk" ROM for quite a few weeks now on my XV6700. It's mostly stable (tho weird stuff still happens every few days, especially with the BT stack ... sigh).

Is there any advantage moving from your "No Junk" to your "Clean & Simple"? What are the major differences?

Thanks!

Fixes to BT and other stuff that they did in the unified kitchen. Plus I've optimized this for speed quite a bit more.

Not sure where to put this, but as many of you know, in addition to crafting fine ROMs for the Apache I also co-host a weekly podcast. Tonight we're moving the cast to BlogTalkRadio and taking live callers! So if you have any questions or comments for me (about ROMS, PPCs or anything else) here's the info.

The cast will be from 9pm EDT until whenever we decide our audience has had enough.

Listen here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/maxgeek

Call in: (347) 996-3771

We'll take as many calls as we can, and cast traditionally covers any topic of interest to geeks, so we talk tech, movies, comics, even politics. Join the fun!
