3.5 pr4 sp1 problem is it happening on pr5

Hi,

I can lock my phone every time I go to my contacts and change the view by Company Name and then try to scroll or type on a letter go filter the view.

It happens everytime. I think I have around 1800+ contacts. Any one else experience the same problem.

Thanks

Just wanted to get feedback form someone that has it working as I have yet to. Just need to find what the fail point is so I can get a good sp1 final out. I will be doing more testing on this when I get home but still do not know if my dongle and XPsp2 is ever going to work

My ability to test right now is limited... I need my PDA daily and I only went to AKU 3 because of the BT PAN patch.

Unfortunately, XP has terrible Bluetooth. Mac Bluetooth support keeps surprising me and exceeding my expectations. Their latest OS update added support for BT 2.0 + EDR dongles... even though Apple doesn't even support them or promote the use of dongles anymore.

Never use the built-in MS bluetooth stack in Windows. Most companies provide a bluetooth driver/stack with their adapters, use those. My Dell laptop has built-in BT, but I couldn't get anything to work right until I grabbed the installer from online. After that BT works like a champ. Better than on my phone actually, and with any device I've paired with it.

That's a broad generalization. Yes, what you said is valid for many... but there are several scenarios and your specific hardware determines what solution you should use.

If you have Windows Vista, you should use the driver provided by Windows. All dongle vendors have integrated the Vista Bluetooth Stack into Microsoft's support subsystem. You shouldn't ever need to install a Bluetooth driver (other than with Windows Update).

If you have XP SP2... it's much more complicated. Widcomm and BlueSoleil based chipsets should use the driver from their vendor. Microsoft and newer Broadcomm dongles should use the Bluetooth driver provided by Windows.

To make matters even more confusing, Broadcomm bought Widcomm, but didn't integrate the Widcomm dongle fully into XP SP2... which is why Widcomm's experience is so poor until you bypass the MS driver with the Widcomm driver. Otherwise it's using a psuedo-linked driver which gives the appearance of Microsoft's driver... but is actually using a generic (and less reliable) Widcomm driver.

And no, Microsoft didn't make this easy how-to explanation... it took hours of research.

How is this fix implemented? is it a registry setting?
"pOutlook address lookup auto-complete "

I would like to get this working on my pr4 without actually upgrading - (very happy w/ pr4 right now as it stands except for this and a few other minor issues..)

Thanks,
-mark

Jammrock: Are you using the Beta SP1 fix or are you using the offical BT PAN fix posted in the other forum?

I have used MS stack, Widcomm and BlueSoleil (BlueSoleil was the dongles default) and none of them could connect to the PPC PAN although I could teather and stream audio to another headset.

For what it's worth, using pr5 and sp1 beta, I can transfer files from PC to 6700 over BT file transfer service. But whenever I try to connect for BT PAN, I get the message "the connection to ... was denied" on the PC. This, in spite of the fact that PC and 6700 are paired on both sides and the BT PAN says it is connected under Internet Sharing on the 6700. By the way, the software that came with the dongle is by Toshiba.

jendand: So you do not have the BT pan working then on your device? Could you try the BT PAN fix posted in the other forum and see if PAN will work then? Getting reports that it works and the sp1 does not.

diomark: There are a couple files that were added so you would need to copy them to the windows dir. I do not have the names off hand but you could look back through the thread and locate them.

saridnour--

I'll gladly try it. I can't do it until this evening, however.

Also, should I uninstall sp1 before applying the BT fix, or just apply it on top?
