Also MSN and the other MSN apps will not be restored to this rom. I did make a note of this earlier in the thread as well as information that can help you to get teh bits in for yourself.

saridnour: I didnt know if you meant you dont understand the issue, or dont know a solution but, here is a description.......

the "flicker" was mentioned earlier by another user as well:

When you try to access Contacts, the contacts screen pops up and then disappears within 100-200 milliseconds. Essentially the Contacts cannot be accessed. Also callers are no longer identified by name, only the number shows when a call is received.

I noticed this bug arising after an on-state battery swap.

Also, the USB to PC menu (under Settings) does the same "flicker" all the time, and cannot be accessed.

Sorry about the MSN info, i must have missed that.
Thanks,

fesstech: Ok I got you. The first flicker state I thought was resolved by one of two means. A hard reset using the fron soft keys and depressing the reset button (we found a user doing this incorrectly) or by not restoring a backup from an earlier rom. I take it you do not fall into either of these? I have not heard of any other reports of this beyond these. When cycling your battery, the device should be suspended. What are your exact steps when your changing your battery to get it in this state? Does it recover over time? Ill try a repro with your steps,b ut have not been able to do this any other way so far.
Also I do see the USB to pc issue your reporting. U have not been in that app before and it looks like it is just failing to load. I will need to research what this does. Have you used it on another rom? If so what ver/build.

saridnour: i read that the Contact Flicker was solved by a hard reset, that of which i have done correctly. However, the issue happens so frequently that a hard reset is impractical. I have never restored a backup so that does not apply here.

First way to induce Contact Flicker (3.5pr1 and 3.5pr4):

1. Phone is on and in active state (not suspended).
2. Battery is pulled out.
3. Battery is replaced
4. Phone boots back up.
5. Contacts are not inaccessable and Active Sync gives memory error

Second way (3.5pr4):

1. Phone experienced a DSOD (for some unknown reason)
2. Rebooted Phone
3. Contacts are not inaccessable and Active Sync gives memory error

To recovery Contacts without Hard Reset:

1. Plug into Active Sync (dont worry about the memory error)
2. Do a Soft Reset from the Clear Temp App
3. PHone reboots, and Contacts and Active work properly

PC-USB menu:

I have never had this work on any ver./build. I was just reporting that it didnt.

THanks,

fesstech: ok, Ill try a repro on your battery removal and see what happens. I did find a solution to the usb to pc issues. It seems Wisebar casues the app to close. If you disable wisebar you should be able to open the applet. I also found there were two reg keys for this item. I have one removed from my device and will get that in the next release, but I still had to disable wisebar to open it. If you close wisebar and still are unable to open, let me know and I will have you delete the second key. It may also be interesting to have you access your contacts while in the "flickering" state with wisebar diables. I guess they did some timer changes to the last two releases that had cased some apps to malfunction. Contacts was not listed as one, but it wouldn't hurt checking. BTW, USB to pc is an applet that allows you to revert activesyncs protocol form v4 to v3 (somehting to do with the connection protocals for compatibility).

saridnour:

i exited/disabled wisbar, hit the reset button, and the Contact Flicker still exists after a boot.

Also, were you aware that the Note Button in the Phone screen does not open notes.exe during a call, nor does Create Note work in the Phone menu?

Thanks,

fess

fesstech: Ill take a look at the note function. I had not used it in the past so again I am not sure of it's state with other builds. Have you used this with other ROMs? I try to clarify becasue some fetaure just don't work in 3.5 and also if it is working in another 3.5 build, it gives me the opportunity to compare what they did differently.

small details..

yup, Fesstech is correct, I also do not have the 'create note' or 'save to contacts with the Saridnour 3.5 pr4.

Not critical but just alerting that this exists.

I still love the speed at which the Apache runs with this ROM!

Both the above work correctly in the stock dialer skin/stock 3.5 rom kitchen build (I've not touched the phone/skin stuff in mine, just tried them, they work fine.
