pumpedpittbull: You are not seeing the "programs" becasue of wisebar liter runing. It replacs the fillscreen Icons menu with a cascadeing menu. If you donlt like this, press and hold the close X for the menu and turn off the app or uncheck cascading menus.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Au dioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"="\windows\vcbthag.dll"

Note change above ... wait a few seconds after closing registry edit program, soft reset, verify change remained. This worked on my vz6700

Ken B and cya,

Yes, I had also replaced the double backslashes with single backslaches in saridnour's Bluetooth fix. Works okay then. Except I'm often having to go back into the Bluetooth connection settings and select "Set as Bluetooth Stereo." Sometimes even that doesn't work. I then soft reset, turn headphones on, and select "Set as Bluetooth Stereo." That seems to always work, but I wish I could just fix it to stay in the Bluetooth Stereo mode.

BTW -- Are you getting skipping at the beginning of play with WMP? I'm getting some of that still.

Sorry for the mix up in the reg key I posted. What I posted was intended to be imported from a .reg file. Ill update the post to reflect what you guys went through.

jendand: Did your headset work with other roms? Some headsets do not always play nice with a devive. For instance my bt gps has to be paired everytime I use it where others do not. I have not had any issues with my stereo headset but I do have to set it to stereo to direct the audio for each use.

all working now

Saridnour, I have seen the light! I hard reset and placed the VC 1.6 .exe in the \windows folder, worked. Then needed to correct the vcbthag.dll with the single backslashes and both the headset and button 5 working perfectly!

Thanks for all your effort and my great set up!

Working now.

Thanks everyone. I suppose I should have realized that a double backslash was not kosher, and I even thought of removing it when I made the initial reg change, but I like to follow directions. VC over bluetooth dialing is working now and that makes my day...thanks again Saridnour for your work in this rom. Ken B

Here's what worked better with a previous rom: First let me explain that on my headphones (Cellink), you press and hold the button to activate VC. When music was playing in my headphones, I could activate VC like that, VC would kick in, and I could say "stop," and WMP would actually stop. Also, I could say "next tract" and it would go to the next track. Now, those functions don't work. Instead, WMP just pauses. This is not insurmountable as just quickly tapping the button pauses, and another tap starts again. Also, there's yet another button that will make it go to the next track. Anyway, that's the only difference with this new rom.

Like you described, I also have to set for stereo for each use, but no previous rom was better in that regard. So, undoubtedly much of the problems are a function of the brand of headset.

Earlier, I had told you that the initial skipping in WMP had stopped. Now, I'm sorry to say, the skipping is back and maybe it's worse. This skipping lasts about the first 30 seconds of the first track, sometimes with long blankouts. After that, it plays quite well.

One registry entry that should be added to all cooked roms is

HKLM\System\GDI\ClearType\Quality
DWORD=4

This is missing from almost all versions from 2.0 to current. Why they would remove it is beyond me.

What exactly is that entry for? Sorry about the question, but I think before you have a bunch of people creating this entry, you might just want to explain its purpose.

Sorry about that.. It enables true Cleartype in portrait and landscape. You can verify this by opening something and make the font, lets say 40... Notice the jaggies all over the place. Now add that and you will see the difference after a soft boot
