Anyone having trouble with the in-ROM dialer slowing down the ring for calls? Still looking for a faster dialer or other solution, but found a partial solution:

Actually very helpful. Not exactly my solution yet, but speeds things up. Here is what the search led me to:

VERIZON directions

1. Open up the phone app
2. dial ##778
3. hit send
4. a screen will pop up asking for a code
5. enter 000000 ( thats 6 zeros)
6. click ok
7.You will be brought into the provisioning of your phone
8.From the top left, select Modem Settings.
9.On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) Your phone should have a 1 in that spot
10. Click edit change it to 0
11. click the ok button then the X in the upper right hand corrner
12. The VX6700 will restart and its all done...

That has sped up the process. 2 Cases:
1. Power off with Dialer closed (off screen) now 4 rings.
2. Power off with Dialer open (on screen) now 1.5 rings.
That is at least 1/2 ring faster in each case. Maybe more.

I am counting rings on another phone until I can hear and answer on my XV6700. Response to manual power up is fast. Power on when called is pretty fast. Recognizing the call, opening up the dialer, or ringing and allowing the call to be answered is slow if the dialer was OFF when the phone was powered down.
I want faster time from incoming calls when phone is OFF and phone dialer is not on-screen when powered down.

Thanks verizonguy for your hard work!

I'm on Dev 4 after, running 1 & 2. I am no longer getting email notifications from my DEFAULT Outlook/Wireess Sync account. My two (2) pop3 accounts get notifications, as set in the properties. But, the default account attached to Wireless Sync does not. I've done several hard resets & reloaded the release, still no notifications.

Any ideas what's going on? Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I didn't change anything in any of my versions so far that would affect mail or notification. Sounds like a wireless sync issue maybe? I don't use it so not sure.

I didn't write the task manager app--HTC did. If the person is having problems using it with some applications, they obviously aren't compatible and they have to choose between one or the other. Do you prefer that response?

When I get a chance, I plan on ditching HTC HOME, which I think is the culprit, and loading back in SPB Mobile.
Anyone know a graceful way to stop HTC Home from loading? (If I remove it from the TODAY screen, is that like removing a program from STARTUP on a PC, it won't load at all? Or is part of it still in the background somehow?)

Gervy
It is a today plugin and can be disabled.

so, I fired it up and went to sync ActiveSync with my exchange server and it said there was not enough free memory to complete the sync. But I looked at the memory and it was pretty wide open and nothing else was running. Reverted back to Helmi's for now.

Yeah, it baffles me too. The closest comparison I can draw is when you boot up a PC and it takes a moment (hourglass) to load any startup programs you have before it becomes responsive.

However, the PDA only improves *slightly* after a day or two.

The really strange part is how sliding out the keyboard makes it behave perfectly...what's up with that?

Oh and by the way, I did uncheck the HTC home page from the today screen options.
