Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

What new features are there in 6.5 that might make some of our favorite OEMs redundant and no longer necessary, i.e. which OEMs are no longer needed and can be omitted to build a small enough ROM?

I feel like you can get rid of any previous home screen plugin that you were using (like HTC home). I like the new IE in 6.5 as well, though the latest IE in the last update to 6.1 that was released was much better than the versions I'd used in early 6.1 builds. If you like Opera, I'd try the new IE first. If you include the gadgets, you also probably won't need a weather program as I felt the built in gadget was fairly nice, as was the stock gadget. I also think that programs are closed by default when hitting the "X", though I could be wrong there as it's been a month or 2 since I last used it. I'd say that if you want a daily use phone, then stick with 21042 of WM6.1. 21501 uses to much memory and becomes unstable after a day or two as well. It works well enough, but if you're constantly using your phone, you may want to stay away, or just use it for a day or two to see what it's like and then go back.

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

many thanks for the tips. I tried using the X button, and unfortunately it does not close programs, only minimizes them. I've also noticed when I have the phone in lock, the caller ID only displays the phone number and but says the contact is not recognized, even though the contact is saved and shows up in call history. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? thanks.

I've used WkTASK for a while & seems to work in 6.5. It gives you the option of setting applications to minimize or close upon clicking the X.

Also, I can't seem to locate the weather and stock gadgets even though I've selected "Windows 6.5 Widgets" in the kitchen.

There has not been any side-effects for every build I have used so far, now on the 3rd different build of 6.5, and other than any phone-related functionality, they work fine together. I can't test the S2Answer or End or any of the phone features with the Apache, so I can't speak for those one way or another.
As for 6.5's general use. I have not gone back to 6.1. There are some things that I don't like, one of those mainly being Windows Live and using a *@hotmail.com email account is nearly like pulling teeth, but other than that I have no issues. Call me crazy, but I have run several beta and alpha products on the latest build out, and never had any problems. Speaks highly of both Spb and Skyfire, as well as 6.5, don't you say? =D>
6.5 is really a great job done for Microsoft. They really have done a lot of great things around the UI, but I still can't wait for WM7.
I've been using 6.5 for about a week - S2U solved the Standard Lock problem. 6.5 seems to be very stable. The new IE is a memory hog and is almost unusable. If I can get Opera installed, I'll be very happy.

Re: WM6.5 build 21501 kitchen

Kitchen Team,

I know that the updates to 6.5 are coming hot and heavy, any chance to have one of the newer ones for the PPCKitchen?

Thank you very much!

Looking for this also...There has got to be a stable build after 21501. What criteria must a new build meet in order to be uploaded to the kitchen?

here is sys and dpi for 21806. I included the apache xip but I have no way of testing it. the sys is for the vogue but all you need to do is replace the ROM and the .VM folder with an earlier apache build
Attached Files
File Type: rar Apache_21806.enc.rar (1,001.6 KB, 55 views) Click for barcode!
