Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

I must be the only ok person here.

I am getting through an entire day of heavy use on my phone. Sadly I don't have the numbers to back it up. The battery is about the same as it has always been lasts about a whole day.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

The HTC Home plugin was a big problem for me with connection issues, battery life because of connection issues, and screen space it takes up. I would recommend disabling the plugin for a couple of days to see what it does for battery life.

I'm sure this is a dumb question but, by disabling it in WM, do I just uncheck it from showing on the home page and do a soft reset ? Or should I just reflash with out it ?

Just wanted to be clear to make sure it will have some effect...

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

I'm in an area that does not have EVDO so I changed my Mode of Operation to 1x only in the phone settings. I also set my Slot Cycle Index to 1. I connect to my exchange server at least once per hour and more when I'm working with mail. I used the internet for about an hour or two today. It's now been 14 hours on the stock battery and I just received the low battery warning.

My battery only lasted about half as long before I changed to 1x only.

Also, I always turn off the screen when I use the phone.

Addition: acbPower has been running for the past 20 minutes. I talked on the phone (with the screen off) for 10 minutes and my average power usage is 154. My idle usage is 33. I had a spike of 425 when connecting to the exchange server.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

I was running C&S WM5 for several months. I bought a 2600mAh extended battery because the stock battery was not holding a charge. As the months p***** the battery was slowing loosing its power. Eventually it got to the point where the end of the day I would have only 20% charge. Occasionally I would run completely out but that was rare. I use Bluetooth synced to a Plantronics 510 headset, its always synced. I also have a Bluetooth GPS receiver and a Bluetooth connection to my laptop. The GPS and the laptop is only used occasionally. I do not WIFI. I use RlToday, WeatherPanel and Calendar+ on my Today screen. I noticed HTC Home locked up my phone too much. I do not use Microsoft Push. My outlook is configured to grab IMAP mail every 15 minutes. My weatherpanel is configured to update every 30 minutes.

I upgraded to WM6.1 a couple of weeks ago. The phone would only last 7/8 of a day. The error message about the battery being low would pop up usually about the time I would head home for the day. I decided to try the Advanced Configuration battery saving tweaks. They did seam to improve the battery life. The battery would usually last until I got home at night and threw it on the charger. Maybe 1 or 2 days a week I would get the battery warning. I decided to buy another 2600mAh battery I have been running for only a day now but it seemed to have about 60% charge when I got home. It still seams to use more power then the WM5 but I think the new battery will work. I have noticed in both WM5 and WM6.1 that if I am not getting a signal the phone will get hot. I would imagine its going in and out of coverage and the phone is boosting its signal requiring more power.

I am interested in where this post goes. I am willing to give any tweaks a try. Although the new "fat" battery might have solved my problem.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

I would love the 2200 battery but the bulge just kills the slim factor.

Re: 6.1 Battery Issue

Ok, here's a good battery saving tip but ONLY for those who DONT sync with an EXCHANGE SERVER:

1. Cradle 6700 and connect to A/S
2. Stop Sync
3. Nav to Tools -> Add Server Source
4. Add some giberish to all the fields
5. Click on Schedule
6. Set both options to 'manual' (you will now have to hit the 'sync' button whenever u want to sync
7. Go back into Server Source and delete the bogus server

After doing this I noticed a very slight increase in battery life. I'm guessing it's because Activesync doesn't start randomly anymore when the phone isn't cradled...let me know if it works for yal
