Re: Apache WM6.1 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19716 (Build 19716.1.0.0) - UPDATED 20080308
OH Man... I just want to say.. Thank You to everyone who has been working with this ROM Update. This is my first time to do this, as I have been searching High and Low, and just happened upon this site and the Kitchen ROM. I have 6 more months left on the PPC-6700 from Alltel, and have been trying to get out of this phone and move to a USB Aircard and a new phone.... Well, you may have JUST changed my mind! I had a few little issues, but just read and searched for the answers, and WHOLA!! I have WM6.1 and am able to BT Internet from my Laptop and even better connections spoeeds than what I got before this COOK... MAN Oh MAN...
Awesome stuff people... SWEET... |

Thanks to all the Kitchen-folk for all the fantastic work! Truly AMAZING what's been accomplished.
I've noticed two problems with Windows Media Player under 6.1 that got me flashin' back to 6.0 for the time being: 1) When I try to launch other apps while a licensed wma music file is playing, I get prompts saying the app is "not a valid pocket pc application". The errors don't happen when playing music that doesn't require a license (like tunes ripped from CD's). 2) When navigating the library heirchy, under Artist, the list usually shows no artists. If I navigate up to My Music and back down to Artist a few times, the list appears. |

Re: Apache WM6.1 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.19716 (Build 19716.1.0.0) - UPDATED 20080308
is it possible to use the new buildOS kitchen with the wm6.0 rom & OEM files?
I copied the rars and selections file to the new kitchen locations & edite the selections file to point to where the rars are. I am wondering if it will compile correctly... The old kitchen had a selection list for the carrier type. The new kitchen just has a pull-down menu to select carrier type. I was wondering if they are compatible or would conflict. Besides any behind-the-scenes areas that I am not aware of. I am looking at rolling back to WM6 due to not being able to run non-certified applications. And would like to just use the one new kitchen moving forward, instead of keeping both kitchens installed on my PC. |

XP Pro SP2
I was having probs with a 6.1 build (mostly centred around SMS issues like sender info not being received) so I wanted to do a new build and see if it was due to the particular combination of apps I included. I have got to the point where I find it better to build a striped down ROM and the add apps later as although it means they are not integrated as well (eg s2u2 settings in control panel etc) it means I can easily upgrade when updates come out and I can remove software to troubleshoot bugs. Long story short - I have gone back to a stripped out 6.0 build using the old kitchen until (if?) a new release of 6.1 is made. Hopefully by then my issue with the current kitchen will also have disappeared. I'm happy with 6.0 anyway - I don't really like 6.1's threaded sms - Pocket CM does it 1000 times better. |

I want to transfer the kitchen I built on the desktop over to the laptop so both machines are the same. What files do I need to transfer other than the *.txt kitchen configuration file?
