I'm fairly new at this whole "updating your Pocket PC's OS" thing, so...

...is this an update to the Windows Mobile 6.0 ROM that you put out? Or is this an entirely new ROM, in and of itself?

http://ppckitchen.org/ Go here. Download the kitchen and run the installer on your PC.
Read the instructions and get familiar with the process BEFORE you do anything, or you'll wind up with a fancy paperweight that used to be a phone. Use the search tab (right under the device pictures, second from right) when you get stuck. Hint: GAMedic has written a how-to-flash guide. Search for that, and you'll get all the info you need to accomplish the process.

Last: I and others here are willing to help but you gotta meet us halfway and research and learn to avoid getting flamed for posts such as this. Study up, use the tools here and if you get stuck let us know.

You can - but 1.02/2.02 are the desired bootloaders, and 1.04 is same size as 1.02 (but it uses the older RUU, which means no_id RUU works, should you need that)


1.00 is about 2MB bigger than 1.02/1.04. It's a trade with program storage - 1.02/1.04 have 2MB more program storage than 1.00.


Don't know how to answer that. you can compare your old rom contents to new if you till have it...that'll tell you what the differences are, and from there where they came from.

Can you tell a noob where to get this bootloader 1.02? I am looking on ppckitchen and may be missing the obvious. Thank you very much.

Hello, I have used BuildOS in the past with no problem. It's been about six months since I used it. I'm attempting to use it now, and whenever I try to load a kitchen file I get the following popups:

"C:\Apps\PPCkitchen.org\BuildOS\Kitchens\Apache_He lmi_WM6.1.rar
found Rar! (then two squares, like bad string input)"

then

"Directory not found: SYS"

then the same not found for "OEM", "PPCKitchen_OEM".

What am I doing wrong here?

you prolly just need to redownload the ppckitchen. i'm not 100% sure, but its worth a shot...
try downloading the latest version from http://ppckitchen.org and then run the updater...

Your selections file has everything to do with looking for files, which may, or may not exist if you updated.
Use new selections file and newest rom IF you actually updated.

Updating kitchen will not give you this Build. Check new rom thread as this is no longer compatible with new kitchen download.

That version replaced with Apache WM 6.1 20755.

The new kitchen has been updated here:

You have choice of latest rom and Helmi version (must manually download though)
