I seriously doubt we'll be seeing anything this coming january now that wm7 has been delayed until Q4 of next year. Even then, i think its supposed to be released in europe first meaning we wont have an official release until sometime in 2011. Remember it all depends on the carrier but since sprint has admitted that they want it asap i am hopeful. I've read everyone's comments and i remained neutral on whether or not microsofts new os would be a flop, but after the delay i cant say i have anymore faith. Is it me or does it seem like after every new os is released, gets a major update or is shown/announced(android 2.0,webos,iphone,maemo,blur,bada) that microsoft seems to delay or kinda' pull back info on wm7? Im thinking that every time they see something out there, they realize they have to copy/add it to their os because its(wm7) not doing anything revolutionary. I mean with every new os their will need to be updates to fix bugs and add features. If wm7 has been in development for at least three years, why does it seem like its going to be the last to be released. By that time most if not all other os' will be much further along in their progression and whatever if anything microsoft does add that the others dont it wont take them long to catch up. By being last, it doesnt give microsoft this advantage, instead it makes it harder because they will have to always play catch up with the other os' features instead of improving upon their own os.

Maybe a few newer models might have the feature set and chip set to run it, possably or a 3rd party creates a driver for some other models and disables features on other models so it will run on current phones....maybe.

So, to answer your question....maybe

Do I think it will be a flop ? No, not really all depends on what the final interface looks like and how it works.

So far, with 6.5 I think they are going in the right direction. I think the iPhone opened MS's eyes to see a smart phone needs to be used with a finger and not just a stylus. WM 6.5 is a good example of them moving in the right direction. Now with the WM store and finger frendly, it might be something to really see.

I think Microsoft really needs to have some serious WOW factor with WM 7. With all the other options out there now, someone can grab the top phone from the iphone, it all depends on who can wow who...

Re: Anyone Else feel WM7 will be a flop?

I disagree, making windows 6.5 more finger friendly is just microsofts way of shafting us. They know windows seven won't drop in the us until 2011, think about it.. If 6.5 was supposed to bring more finger friendliness y is it that it was released with only a lock screen and that very horrible unusable titanium/zune interface?how in the world did they make the lock screen show more info then the dang today screen? If it took that long to drop that bs and now they're wasting so much time updating it constantly, I'm not surprised at the delay. Why waste resources on an os that supposedly has nothing to do with ur newer often delayed version? I honestly believe that some of the new 6.5 updates will be in 7 and that it will be the same windows just with prettier larger icons. Nothing revolutionary will be released, just more of an evolution that will of course be an extension of windows 7 desktop version. I've seen all the "leaked" photos and I believe some were real and to be honest nothing looks new, Just more color. As I've said before we were hearing/seeing more of windows phone but as always, with another os being updated/announced/released(bada,android,iphone,blur,webos,maemo) microsoft has retreated and delayed again. This makes me feel like microsoft has nothing new or exciting to offer.

Re: Anyone Else feel WM7 will be a flop?

I agree @smoove21, i think Microsoft should step up or shut up if you know what i mean. I keep hearing that wm 7 will be spectacular and like nothing ive ever seen but i think that all the hype will make the experience of using it for the first time a huge let down. And yeah, windows mobile 6.5 was like a consolation prize or something. Microsoft went sorry thats not available at the moment but you can always have this crappy, slightly more finger friendly version of winmo 6.x instead.

Re: Anyone Else feel WM7 will be a flop?

Have any of you guys played with a new ZuneHD? If Microsoft can fix the Zune and make it better than the Ipod, i think they can do the same for WinMo.

I'm rooting for them, and I expect big things. If they have to wait a little longer to work out some of the finer details, so be it.

I'm extremely happy with my TP2 on 6.5 now.
