I've been messing with NRG's ROM 23518_Jan_20_LEO Maxmanila and guess what, out of the box messeging just plain works. SMS is instant MMS take a bit to recv on the end ( about 5 Min) but it works without any patches or tweaks. MMS file limint is set at 300k but when you install and run MRX Provision and PRL cabs for Sprint its bumped upto 1000k (Sprint server limit) I can only speak for the Sprint TP2 and Network.

i would search for this in this thread but i actually don't have a clue how to succinctly phrase a search?!

so, i just read a note that "swiping down" on the home screen brought up some control items. so i did and yep, 2 screens worth of items.....what do they do? is there a link in this thread or even on the htc web site that explains these?

EDIT: so i just started pressing the buttons. wow! lots of cool things. don't understand the differences in the 4 different numbers that show up when pressing the calendar button. i didn't see any change to the calendar.
so i'd still appreciate a pointer to what these options do. thanks

EDIT 2: Whoops! i pressed the "full screen" button and the phone froze. had to remove the battery. that really changed the home screen. now there's an upward's pointing half-arrow on the bottom of the screen, and a padlock in the lower right corner, and a 3x3 grid of white boxes in the lower left corner. what the heck am i doing?! lol

some advice/help please!?

I do take care not to auto-install any programs that would change the ROM, just added tools, games, shortcuts.

The problem is that almost anything you install can potentially cause something else to stop working. e.g. You install a game with sound and its drivers cause ringtones to stop working. My opinion is for people that routinely have problems. Take it easy on the autoinstall.

If stock radio didnt work to fix it and none of the fixes I suggested worked either your internal gps is broken or youve installed something that broke the software. If it works on stock ROM (flash back to stock shipped ROM and see if it works) then its not the hardware its the software. If its the software a hard reset/reflash starting with a clean rom should do the trick. Its obviously not the rom thats the problem because most people arent having an issue with GPS so it must be something specific to your phone.

Hey guys, here's an easy way to flash a ROM and not have to worry about reloading every program again. I've been doing this since my old XV6800 days. Before you flash go to your windows/start menu/programs folder copy it to your SD card, flash your phone then copy the files over to your freshly flashed windows/start menu/programs folder. Thats it... You may have to re-install 2 or 3 programs but almost everything you initially installed on your SD card will just work. Saves me all that re-installing time and bother. Give it a shot!

Not sure why messaging is working for you out of the box unless this ROM is a Sprint only ROM and he forgot to put it in the title.

I have no MMS (as usual with any of these ROMs) and I can send SMS, but can't receive SMS. So, until someone can come up with a fix, I'll have to flash to something else.

I didn't wipe my phone before flashing to this ROM, so I'll do that, but I don't see that it will fix the MMS/SMS problem.
