Install this to your phone and run it, this will add the ebooks to the manila tab. Make sure you have the epub files and the cover images in the proper directories.

You're not the only one seeing the broken backgrounds in the 9th's 23554 ROM, only the homepage shows the background all the other tabs have a black background. Otherwise the ROM is pretty rock solid.
