The user 2 user thread about XDA_UC is linked here.
note: im new to this 2, so im hoping others will share helpful hints or tips to use XDA_UC and JUICY ROMS to the fullest.

Basics: in ROOT of SD card make folder [XDA_UC] .
to have the option of install location, make folder inside [XDA_UC\SD] .
put all your .cab files; .reg files; .xml files + more, in your XDA_UC folder.
after flash/hard reset go to [start\customize] to start the process.
note: i always do a soft reset after the process is completed, just make sure its DONE!!!

Update 12/4 i uploaded the .reg files i use so far, they do work on my Sprint w/R5
Note: im not taking requests; these are the .reg files i use and you can either 1 use them as they are or 2 use them as a reference. anyway i hope it helps
attached 4 .zip files
1. kb&backlight_suspend-inside are:1. batteryBackLightOFF=settings\system\power\advanced\unchecked box 4 'on battery power, turn off backlight'. 2. batterySuspend=settings\system\power\advanced\checked box 4 'on battery power, suspend'. 3. batterySuspendSET=(used w/ #2 above to set timeout) set as 2min. 4. acBacklightOFF=(same as #1 above but w/ ac NOT battery) 5. acSuspend=(same as #2 above but w/ ac NOT battery) 6. acSuspendSet=(used w/ #5 above to set timeout) set as 5min. 7. kbAutoLightOFF=settings\personal\buttons\backlight \unchecked box.

2. manila-inside are:1. manilaWallpaper=well, obviously you shouldnt have to ask (set 4 me) 2. manilaTabOrder=dont ask (set 4 me) 3. manilaQuickLinks=manila home tab quick links (set 4 me) 4. manilaPushPages=manila internet tab push pages (set 4 me) 5. manilaWeatherCities=dont ask (set 4 me) 6. manilaFahrenheit=enabled 7. twitSettings= (my twitter settings)

*home tab quick links: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila\Home]
*change quick links display name: in the same key as above (in each folder), look for "DispName" and edit to your liking.
*contact card: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\People\OwnerInfo]
*weather cities: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.City List ;which also transfers the info. to World Clock times w/ the same cities (dunno why, as theres a WorldClock.CityList which is blank?)
*weather in F: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\Weather.Fahr enheit "value 1"
*internet tab push pages: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\InternetPus h]
*twitter tab/app settings: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TwitterApp]
*htc account manager 4 facebook, twitter and youtube: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAccountManager]

save .reg files: i use DotFred Taskmanager so when you find a key to save, highlight it or tap n hold until menu pops up and choose 'Export'. i save it directly to my XDA_UC folder w/ a name i can recognize per setting. and thats it. the next time you use start/customize, it will import automaticly.

here is ss of how i kinda set my XDA_UC folder. as you see i have numbers in mine to try and organize it a bit (sum sorta ocd)

hope this can help out a bit

No mms cab needed...search the thread and you'll find the steps required, it's not that difficult. :read:

I have an XDA_UC question, how do you define whether a cab installs to the storage card or internal memory? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I did search, but too many threads pop up.

Is anyone else still having issues playing music? Where it skips or freezes? R3 is when this problem started for me... didn't change with R4, and now with R5 just when I go to the music tab it freezes the phone for at least a minute before I can do anything.

I am playing mp3s off of my SD card... with about 4+gb of mp3s

Also I still have the problem too where the phone wont ring or vibrate reliably for phone calls or text messages unless I apply that ringer fix cab. Is this problem going to be fixed for R6?

would u mind zipping up your xda_uc .regs and posting them here (obviously take out anything personal but it would be helpful if u left them in just replace username/pw with XXXXX or something), i notice in your screenshots u have a few tweaks ive been meaning to apply but sometimes im just too lazy to open my reg and apply it and soft reset, its much easier to see the way u have it

also does xda_uc install in numbered order like vk cooks packges?

have u thought about disabling htc sms/mms for now and leave arcsoft/threaded wm text as default? i seem to have to do that in order to be able to send/receive mms and feel assured theyve gone through successfully, thats the only problem i keep having to workaround after a juicy flash

This has caused me panic on a few occasions. What does the OTA recording say? When this happened to me, I just waited (nail-biting the whole time) for a short bit and tried again--then it worked. I think sometimes the OTA programming is down/glitchy.

I get something to the effect of "please wait" dead air for 1 min then some hold music for like 30 sec then I get "im sorry but we cant program your phone at this time please contact our cust serv at...". I have tried at least 6 times out in the last two hours... I dont have access to a pc atm (useing the SD card flashing method) as I have a mac, I dont know if that would make a diff?. Short of flashing back to stock and trying then I dont know what else to do.

EDIT: ok wow just tried for the 7th time for the hell of it and it WORKED! whew... I can stop panicking now. I wonder why the heck this happened?

Glad it worked! Yeah, I wish I knew why it did that as well. One time, it was "please wait while your phone is being programmed," then music for a minute or so, then the music stopped and it was dead quiet, but it was still connected. After two more minutes I started panicking more and more, but then it successfully programmed and reset itself. Weird stuff.

look in the registry at HKLM\Security\Shell|Startinfo\HideSettings...set this is at 0 and the setting link will appear in the start menu that directs you to windows settings

Thanks. another reg edit that is going into my Juicy sashimi folder. I dont understand how ppl can prefer UC over sashimi. With sashimi you can have different folders and ini files for different roms. Painless flashing everytime for me.

Other ppl said they didn't need to install arcsoft and they can go through settings or whatever, but hell i Just import this reg file and install this arcsoft and I'm good to go.

Unzip the .zip file then import this key. Found here:

arcsoft with sprint settings:

I just do those two steps and I'm able to send and receive MMS through the native winmo messaging, which is good enough for me b/c MMS isn't that frequent.

I am playing mp3s off of my SD card... with about 4+gb of mp3s

Also I still have the problem too where the phone wont ring or vibrate reliably for phone calls or text messages unless I apply that ringer fix cab. Is this problem going to be fixed for R6?

I "rebuilt" my sd card Music folder i.e. deleted playlist files both WM & Htc’s & other misc & started over. Worked real good until I created a new Loooong playlist...that's where things got sluggish - Extremely.

Got tired of it so I removed the Music tab. At this point the built in WM player is far superior.

But - I think if you keep playlists short it will work. Just don't know how many playlists it can handle but it sure was frustrating.

Does anyone know if it's possible to create a rom & substitute HTC player for an older version? Maybe a guru can use Caulkins kitchen. I personally am not savvy enough to do this ATM.:-\"

So MMS with HTC is not viewable when recieved correct? It pretty much tells I gotta message?

You have to goto email inbox, and then MMS folder to few them?

And to send a pic, I have to goto open folder, goto a folder with a picture, then use the windows MMS function right?

Thanks.
