Have you tried Swype for texting? I hardly ever use my hardware keyboard now that I have it...

So I've noticed this in R2, R4 and now R5. But what is odd is that the wiper (or any weather animation slowdown) only occurs on the Home screen with a custom background. The wiper is just perfect on the weather screen even though it too has a non-default/black background. What's even more odd is that on the weather screen, the wiper animation occurs perfectly and you can see your background from start to finish. On the Home screen, the wiper animation starts with a black background and then the custom background fades in during the considerably slowed animation.

I don't have a solution, I'm just reporting my experience to see if any of the more skilled people here can derive the problem out of it after confirming with others. The only thought I had is there a way to specifically disable the weather animation on the Home screen, but leave it on for the weather screen?

I doubt it has to do with my specific background, but if it is useful I'm simply using the jpg named "HTC_stwater_480_800" found in the windows dir. Same background on all pages.

Thought it was the Gyrator program but removed that and it is still there. Also thought it was because I didn't hard reset but it still existed after a hard reset. As mentioned earlier, it is good to see the new mail indicator properly showing but now this came up. Any advice? Thanks!
I can confirm this same problem. I'm not using Gyrator so that's not it.

Hey I'm giving this a shot with sprint and used the elephant fix for mms...but I cant tell if i need to make the reg edit from post 3 to fix incoming mms, or if the elephant fix makes both incoming and outgoing work. from reading his post i couldnt quite tell.

Thanks! Rom seems really snappy btw, liking it so far

I don't believe thats a problem, its just a characteristic of the Animated Weather on the home screen. It supposed to make the rain drops more visible and makes the effect of your background fading in... I actually like it.

So did the landscape get taken out of the photo album tab, the way it used to rotate into the landscape mode to flip thru the pictures? Just wondering

yes, that was taken out by HTC for the Topaz build, as well as the cover-flow in the music tab, and the footprints and documents tabs. Not missing any of that stuff...

Ive noticed a significant improvement in battery life.

I've been fiddling with the phone all day and normally at this time I'd have 1 or 2 bars left and now I have a solid 3. This is great!
