It all depends on what the "giftee" is looking for as far as tweaks. Mal has put some pretty decent stuff in there already, but dare I ask, what are you going to do if the phone starts getting funky overseas, i.e. flash back to stock, HR, flash back to Mal's rom, etc? Have you had any other ROM's on the phone, have you had any issues with it to date? I personally would be leary about sending the phone overseas for a year or two to a person who is very unlikely to understand the potential issues {unless of course you send a separate sd card w/ the stock ROM and a couple of custom ROM's for the person to flash via sd card :joker:) Is there a reason you're not sending it with stock ROM, as it obviously is the most stable, although less customized.

Mal is the smoothest of all ROM i've tried so far.
I've tried almost all major ROMs.

Your point is valid on the potential hiccups.
I will put the stock 6.5 verizon rom on the sd card with simple instructions. you never know. thanks for the idea.

the phone is pretty new. only a cpl. days old. sim unlocked. didnt even test it on verizon. me being a sprint customer. tested gps, wifi successfully. Airtel sim card recognized T-mobile as the partner and is in roaming mode.
i dont want to make any test calls and run up their bills.

but since.. none of the stock ROMs are well rounded or all rouned. ex. they dont have the tweaked graphics or battery drivers. Simply none of the Mal goodness. that is why i want to know if its ok to let the phone run the b6 rom for the next 1 yr?

once i had silence rom running on TP for almost 2 months. my personal record. lol.

Just make sure the sd card if formatted FAT32, IMO I would try it first, to make sure it works and also put Mal's ROM on there so if they did need to flash back to stock, they could also flash back to Mals ROM. I would think that you could cut and paste some of the instructions from different threads here and include them with the phone, and include any cabs your running on it right now for them to reload if needed. As far as the length of time the ROM could run, I've been running it since it came out and haven't so much as had a freaking hiccup...Although if you've flashed a bunch of different custom ROM's on it, I would maybe recommend flashing back to VZW stock, hard reset, then flash again to Mal's, HR again and set it up as needed, as there's been a lot of reports out there about the phones getting freaky after flashing multiple diff ROMs. Just trying to weed out any potential issues you might have overseas.

Mal, how can I add or remove Palringo and Nanogroove to/from the exceptions list for the task manager, nothing seems to shut them off except having to manually go in to the TM and kill them. Is there an easier or better way? I've searched the registry and can't it anywhere.

How do I use the home screen with the big clock and the bottom bar for tabs instead of the one shown in the bottom right (of the first post) that installed as the default?

Sounds like you want the 6.5 not the 6.5.3 version.

Or go into start menu/settings/today and choose sense.

I dunno flashing a rom right now cant look for myself...

Any comments on battery life of this ROM?

I had problems with iGO TTS on any custom 6.5 ROMs I tried so far, inlcuding MightyROM. I learned that TTS is not a problem for MalROM. SO I would like to give it a shot. The only hesitation is battery.

My battery normally last for two days in Mighty or Stock ROM.

I have been running this ROM since it was released. I am running 23518. I am getting 2 days easily with general use. I personally haven't seen much difference between it and stock. IMO. Also an extremely stable ROM. The best of all the ones I have tried.

What ROM did you d/l? If it's defaulting to the screen you're referencing, it sounds like you d/l'd the titanium only ROM. You want one of the sense ROM's. Or did you change the settings to windows default and uncheck sense?

Wow! This ROM is really terrific. I installed today, and the iGO TTS works flawlessly, unlike other custom 6.5 ROMs. And everything is perfect. I especially like the action screen.

Thanks, I will be a new fan of this ROM from today on.

BTW, is there anyway to change the shortcuts in action screen? I wish to add a turn off screen shortcut so I can remove PowerShutXP.

Look for 'MySuspend.cab'
I added it to my HTC action screen, along with a lot of other shortcuts.
A search for HTC Action Screen over at XDA helped me find the registry
HKLM/software/htc/biotouch/actionscreen
You can edit everything. If your shortcut has parameters, you have to put that part in the parameter key. Good luck

The only thing this ROM is missing is the WIFI router. Would love to see that added.

He hasn't moved on, he's also doing other ROM's for different devices, and as he noted in previous posts, there's really nothing huge out there other than some minor bugs to fix, so he's not doing updates constantly.

What do you mean, tethering is in there. go to start and either wifi internet sharing or internet sharing.

Hey -- I previously reported that my alarm "dismiss" button wasn't showing on 6.5.3 1B6 (and it wasn't). However, I seriously mucked-up some settings on my TP2 and performed a hard-reset back to the clean 1B6, and the buttons are there.

SO MAL's rom has them properly setup.

I think I messed them up by changing some of the today "appearance" settings. Haven't had much success with that (created some other problems at other times).

Anyone else had problems changing appearance settings???

FWIW, I've generally had good results with Mal's 6.5.3 ROM. I reviewed all the cooked ROM sections before deciding to go with MAL for 6.5.3. Seems like some of the other (well respected) ROMs install with some kinks or issues that often have to be corrected. Anyhow, it works very well for me "out of the box". Wanted to share some of the apps I'm running which also work very well:

What kind of appearance settings are you talking about? I'm currently running the Pewter theme with a clean up tweak to remove the missed calls, etc, modified slider and 6.5.3 taskbar and everything is working great. I'm at work or I'd drop a screen shot. And glad the calendar cab worked, it's pretty sweet.

Yeah, Fishingmedic is right.

Still here, still doing this ROM. Just waiting to accumalate a few things before an upgrade. I prefer to have either major overhaul updates or major bug fix updates, but I don't want to do a new ROM just for one new item.

I imagine there will be another update in the next week or so. We'll see.

Out of nowhere my screen turned black and none of the buttons did anything. I pulled out the battery and put it back in and the phone is now very sluggish. The sliding unlock thing slides, and then when it gets to it's spot to unlock it turns white and just sits there for about 10 seconds before I get to whatever screen I was at.

Go to Start-Settings-System-HD Tweak, section 12.2, bottom of the page, and change it from "enabled" to "disabled."

Mal,

Love your ROM and I am a big fan of the Titanium Interface.
However, on that version of your ROM the menu's seem to be from Touch Flo 3d. They are slow. IS there a easy way (cab ??) to switch to standard titanium menu's ?

Running latest 23518 build of grea rom but could you please tell me how I can get the visual cues back when I type on virtual keyboard - larger letter in reverse type of what you are typing - helps me see what I am doing better becaus eI am visually impaired and thanks.

How do I access the Windows folder of the Device (to customize the start menu) on my PC? IT is hidden or something and I can't get to it.

Could someone tell me where the setting is to be able to answer calls from the phone while a BT headset is connected? In other words, if I answer from the headset it connects to the headset. If I want to answer from the phone the call goes to the phone (not the headset). I know I have found it in WM 6.1, can't seem to find it in 6.5/6.5.3.

it should be device\windows\start menu
edit: nevermind, that won't work from the pc. that's how you can access on the device. wish i could help but when you connect the device to the pc it hides the windows folder for whatever reason. i'm sure there's a way around it though.

It is hidden..if you are using Windows....just go to mycomputer/organize/folder and search options/view........ then look for show hidden folders, files and drives...check the box and you are good to go....I am running Win 7 but it should be pretty close to the same for Vista and XP....cant remember off hand...

I have both working with no problems...
