Nice. Can't wait. I am curious, what customizations have been removed? Also, will this ROM have the updated email manilla tab like the new MM or not? Thanks!

Yeah, it's there. I liked it better than the envelope, but yeah, it does the same thing.

Customizations removed were just simple Manila changes, like background 4 all, etc.

Links are up for 1.5 b4. See 1st post.

Couple quick notes:
  1. If you need more RAM, just run HD Tweak under Settings --> System and reduce the cache in Section 18
  2. Nitrogen Player will have an error on the very 1st run, don't worry, run a 2nd time and it will be fine thereafter

Found a bug in Photos when you hit album nothing comes up! You use to be able to hit storage card and then select it.

Found a minor bug in Album. When you browse a video and hit the [>] button, nothing happens. Maybe there's a patch for this?

I posted earlier I believe their is a bug in Album. 6.5.3 Sense 2.1 the album button does not allow you to select where to view your files. i.e. slide over to photos and video hit album when open up hit album again nothing happens?

Another bug: slide-out-keyboard symbol mappings are screwed up. "/" is ":" etc. This is all in the 6.5 build.

Using the jan. 3rd version, WM6.5.3 for sprint, working great, but recently total commander stopped working right. It loads fine, just doesn't show any files in the directory... The windows file explorer works. I reinstalled TC, but it's the same. strange!

I found this cab in another thread, and it's suppossed to be an updated version of Total Commander- maybe give it a try and let us all know if it works?Attachment 55301

ROM is for sure faster. Great work Mal ! I'm missing the "album" link as described above, the "send" icon and did need to install the Sprint keyboard fix even after the "Sprint" file located in the Malrom folder.

Very happy with it though and the fastest, most functional ROM I've tried considering all of the eye candy. I've yet to try any of the stripped down "for speed only" ROMs so I can't compare to those of course but this ROM is very nice.

Thank you for the updated 6.5.3.One thing I liked about your ROM was the updated color icons (it made TF3D feel more complete). Any chance you could cab up your manila customizations for those of us who would like to retain that "classic" MalRom" look?

anyone know how to disable the HTC messaging in the new Jan 12th rom? I've gotten used to using the standard windows messaging and when you click on a message, even after installing Zenyee Disable HTC messaging cab, it still comes up. However, when you click the "All Messages" button, the windows messaging does come up.

I'll have a 23518 ROM probably later this week, as well as 21889. Outside of the threaded email, it's not any different as far as I can tell

Mal, long-time listener, first time caller. I've enjoyed your podcasts very much and thanks for the time and effort you're putting into your career as a chef.

This is the first of your ROM's I've tried, was really excited for your latest Titanium build of 6.5.3 as I'm running Mobile Shell. I just flashed to the Jan 12 build and cannot seem to get my hardware keyboard correctly configured for my Verizon TP2 layout. Am I missing something? I ran the "Verizon" cab within the MalROM directory but there are still some issues with the keyboard.

Am I missing something obvious? Wouldn't surprise me one bit...

Mal,
One thing I noticed is when I tried to update profile with your Sprint provisioning, got 1012 error but when I installed Mr. X update profile cab, it worked fine. Otherwise, great rom and I also installed Sprint keyboard fix - dn't remember doing that in earlier roms. And, you have again gotten the volume where I can get the phone as loud as needed and I appreciate that along with all your great work. Thank you.

Mal,

I've owned my Sprint TP2 for ~1 month and was fairly well satisfied with the stock ROM and some tweaks. But I was very interested in running 6.5.3 because it's more finger friendly.

Been reviewing the custom ROM forums and saw some very good feedback on yours. Decided to take the plunge with the new 6.5.3 1/12 build.

You've exceeded my expectations. Everything is working very well. Even connected flawlessly to my corp exchange server (which the stock ROM couldn't do without a patch from my IT guys). I've encountered some of the bugs with the keyboard and album viewer reported by others. My touch flo also seems to flicker a bit every now and then. Other than that, everything (so far) works well and it's very responsive and easy to use.

Thanks again for your good work on these ROMs!

Try MM's Verizon KB fix. Will add to the provisioning .cab for next time.


For flickering, that seems to be a side effect of the X2 video driver, which I think gives better performance than Chainfire's. OTOH his did not flicker, so I may switch back on next release.
