Re: [JUL 12] *11 Radios Available* Updated Touch Pro CDMA Radio Archive Thread

I want to do this right. Since flashing a new Rom the streaming drops off bad. And bar signal has been terrible. The word is that flashing radio is just like flashing a rom. Right? That means when I unzip the Radio, I then move the RUU_unsigned.nbh into the RUU folder. It looks like the Radio has it's own ROMupdateutility program. All that matters is that the Radio ****.nbh is in the same folder as the Romupdateutility program, right?

Anyone have any experience as to which radio is the best in terms of GPS and GPS lag?

Re: [JUL 12] *11 Radios Available* Updated Touch Pro CDMA Radio Archive Thread

I'm using the 1.12.31F radio in and near Phoenix AZ. Been using it for about a day now after swapping from the 1.12.20F radio.

I'm boucing less to 1x with the .31F radio, but in both cases, I can stream radio with little to no issues (on MR6 ROM). On the Verison radio I would overheat and stop charging.

IMO... I'm sticking with the 1.12.31F radio since it is handing the heat issues I was having and seem reliable where I am. I haven't done any speed tests, I'm happy if it stream my online radio stations at work. GPS picked up in seconds and I'm on Sprint, so no issues there either.

Ok... Revising my statement... v1.12.31F is locking between 5-30 minutes now. I did find that several tests not far apart (like I had done to begin with) had very quick locks. Waiting several hours to a day or more takes way too long to lock though.

Over the past few days... The heat reduction is almost worth keeping the radio... But I do use the GPS at least a few times a week... Maybe I'll roll back to v1.12.20F and report back if I have any difference there.

I'm assuming you are running a custom ROM which attempts to tweak the GPS using entries in HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS. Delete them if using a 1.12.XX radio and your GPS will lock as normal.

In terms of absolute mathematical value, yes, -100 is less than -50.

But in terms of your phone radio, absolutely not. A few hundred feet from a cell tower my signal level is now -68 dbm with all 6 bars.

At home where I've had missed calls, delayed texts and VMs, I get anywhere from about -88 to -96 dbm. There's the proven example.

Can you flash the radios using the SD card? I tried doing it the way that you flash a rom using the SD card and it doesn't seem to work.

The newest Verizon seems to work the best in Michigan around the Metro Detroit area so far.
