Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
yea there safe to leave in, justmake sure you dont have a rom in ready to load form or it will see that first and end up flashing from the card(if it can see it that is). the file is supposed to be named RAPHIMG.nbh the only reason you see people say RAPHIMG is because the normal file explorer on the phone hides the extensions. If you use total commander, you will need to make sure you see the full RAPHIMG.nbh. it sounds to me like your card is fat and not fat32. try formating one of them using a card reader on your pc.
|
Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
is an app like pocket mechanic ok to use to format? when i check the card on pocket mechanic it says that its fat32. When it goes into bootload, it flashes a message that says loading and "no image file!" right below barely long enough to see what it says. I renamed it RAPHIMG.nbh.

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
i would assume it would be okay, but ive only used n2chems formatter from the titan unlocker, and vistas formatter using a card reader. you can set your phone to storage mode connect to your pc like a usb drive then format it from then. if you can maybe take a picture of your file explorer showing the RAPHIMG.nbh that might help too.

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
Hey guys -
I can't seem to get this going! I DO have the card as FAT32 (used the setting to use phone as disk, then did it) I DO have the right file name RAPHIMG.nbh I WAS was getting stuck on the tri-color screen, but the FAT32 fixed that. I DO now get stuck on the white screen with blue 'Loading...' text If I reset the device, I am back to a normal phone, but not unlocked. I hope it is something simple - feel stupid as I work in IT and can't flash my phone! Thanks for any help. |

last thing I can think of is you unzipped my file and pulled the pre-named RAPHIMG.nbh out and didn't just rename the zip right? |
Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
Finally got it working - for whatever reason I had the nbh file BOTH on the card AND internal memory - took that out, used the exe on the phone, and it worked. Don't know why I was having issues - the directions are clear... :???:

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
So I have to return my phone back to Sprint (dropped and cracked screen) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to relock my phone. I've read this thread over and over and nothing seems clear to me. Can someone post some directions for me or point me in the right direction. Many thanks in advance.

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
yea relocking is a pretty similar situation basically step 1 is flash the shipped stockrom (not the dumped stockrom) step 2 is pull the nbh out of the relocker and flash it like a normal SD flash. When thats done, your phone is stock again.

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
If you want to relock from the microSD card, there is a very informative thread here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=67954

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
Thanks for this! I was unable to unlock via USB (Connection [202] Errors), doing it this method worked like a charm.

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
well I am stuck in the loop also no errors just have to push power button and it goes to tri color screen then it loads up bar and goes to tri color and I have to push power button and then it goes back to bootloader screen. I have been reading post it says just flash any rom and it will quit so how do I flash it when it is not synced to computer?

Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
I did the rename thing and it worked thanks so much everyone and when I get paid I will be leaving a donation for you guys
|
Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
I used this and it worked fine the first run through. The phone reset fine but when I tried to use Vol Down + Power to confirm I entered the error cycle. Flashing a rom from the bootloader error screen seems to have fixed it though.
Maybe you have to remove the files before doing the confirmation? |
Re: unlock your TP via the SD card
yea if it finds a raphimg.nbh file it immediately passes the tricolorscreen and goes into the confirm to flash screen.

Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
First off, thank you cornelious2 for making what IMO is the easiest unlocking, flashing thread around. Maybe it is my OCD, but doing everything from the phone just seems the best way to do this.
So, I have a completely stock Sprint TP, and I just want to reiterate to make sure I understand correctly for unlocking, flashing, and relocking my phone. First, to Unlock: Download the SSPLManual_Raphael.zip and extract, place extracted .exe on the root of the phone For Sprint download the UNLOCKER.zip and extract, place RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the card For Verizon download the Verizon_UnlockerNBH.zip and extract, place RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the card Run the .exe that I placed on the root of the phone This will unlock the phone. This process does not effect anything on the phone, just unlocks. Second, to Flash: Download whatever ROM I choose (Juicy, MightyMike, etc.), extract/find the .nbh. Rename the .nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and place on the root of the storage card, replacing the RAPHIMG.nbh that is probably on the storage card from the unlocking phase. Press Power+Vol Down+Reset to enter bootloader. This should start the flashing process. The phone should now be flashed to a custom ROM At this point I should have a wicked cool custom phone Now, if I need to return the phone to stock I follow almost the exact same steps, but in reverse. First, to Flash to stock (De-Flashing?): Download the Leaked Stock ROM and extract. Rename the .nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and place on the root of the storage card, replacing the RAPHIMG.nbh that is possibly on the storage card from the flashing phase. Pres Power+Vol Down+Reset to enter Bootloader. This should start the flashing process. The phone should now be completly back to stock, but still unlocked. Second, to Relock: Download the SSPLManual_Raphael.zip and extract, place extracted .exe on the root of the phone, or it could still be there from he unlocking phase. For Sprint download the SPRINTRELOCKER.zip and extract, place RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the card For Verizon download the Verizon_Relocker_NBH.zip and extract, place RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the card Run the .exe that I placed on the root of the phone This will relock the phone. Now, for my questions So the SSPLManual_Raphel.zip for unlocking, and relocking is the same? Also, is this the same for all phones, just the unlocker.nbh is different? The unlocking and relocking .nbh's are NOT ROM's? They are only "overlays", for lack of a better term, over whatever ROM is loaded? I appoligize for the n00b questions, this is my first time flashing, and probably the first time I feel I may understand the WHOLE process from unlock to relock so I just want to make sure that I do understand the process. If I do understand the process, then DANG, this is FAR easier than I was expecting it to be, and a big thanks for all of those that have made everything required (unlockers, relockers, etc) for making these things this easy to use. Having these fantastic tools at hand makes the process far less scary than a total noob like me makes it out to be. Plus, the ability to unlock, flash, flash to stock, and relock all from the phone (assuming you have all the files) is a HUGE plus. This means that if I am traveling and ever need to remove a custom ROM, or flash a different one, or return to stock and relock I can do it all without a regular computer, that takes a HUGE weight off my shoulders. Again, thank you for the work put into this thread, to all who have put up information. |

The phone has multiple storageplaces, the phones main memory were you install programs, the EXTROM area which is hidden from us normally this is were oem's get stored (and the rom too I think), and were the radio is, and then there is yet a fourth place were the SPL is stored. As for the SSPL it is only needed for UNlocking once you are unlocked you do not need it again unless you have to unlock a warranty replacement. I will try to get the relocking guide up tonight if my 1 year old decides to take a nap anytime soon. |
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
Ok, thanks for the tip on relocking. I posted what I did due to the insructions in this thread, those instructions indicated using the SSPL in the relocking phase, its good to know its not required since I just realized that the SSPL would be deleted on a hard reset.
This is great, its fantastic knowing I could carry all files I needed on the storage card and do whatever I needed on the fly (I think I said this already  ). |
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
For the relocking, all you have to do is put the relock RAPHIMG.nbh file into the root of your Storage Card, then restart your phone in bootloader mode (hold down power and volume down buttons, and keep holding while you hit the reset pin. wait until you see the tricolour, then let go of the power/vol-down buttons). Follow the instructions in the grey background / blue text prompts, and you'll flash back to the stock SPL.

Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
Unlocked like a champ, litterally took me longer to get the courage than to actually unlock.
Only one thing, forgot to remove the RAPHIMG.nbh from Storage root and tried to go to bootloader. It only asked me if I wanted to flash (said no of course). I dont know what would have happened if I had said yes by accident, but might be nice if you remind total noobs like me to remove that before doing anything else. Phone is exactly the way it was before I started this, thanks for the guide it is much appreciated. Now, to flash the Telus Radio. *edit, Telus radio flashed using this method, everything went well. |

Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card

|
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
my computer fried 2 nights ago so I updated the guide with relocking info, but its really short right now since im doing this from my TP.
|
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
I basically have the same problem. Does the soft reset complete the unlocking and now I'm ready for flashing?

Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
nope you are just in the sspl. softreset to get back into your phone, and make sure you unzipped the unlocker and placed that file on the root of your sd card.
|
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
yep, locker is unzipped and and placed in root. still getting same result.
think i would have a setting that is stopping it from completing? |
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
my guess is your sd card is not formatted fat32 if all the above is correct (you didn't make a folder and call it root right?)
|
Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
just checked and it is fat 32. did not make a folder called root. pretty mind boggled here. i might consider a hard reset and try again but tomorrow i'll have access to a windows xp machine so i might be able to try another method. i'll update on what i do.

Re: unlock and flash your TP via the SD card
try making sure your phone is in active sync mode rather than storage mode.
|
Re: unlock, flash and even relock your TP via the SD card!
How do I reformat the SD card?
