As long as I have been using WM phones, I never created partnerships after Exchange 2003 because I could sync everything over the air (including setup) without ever touching a computer. But since I've started flashing, I've noticed it's a requirement.

Maybe you're making the same mistake I did?

No, I need to re-install Windows when I get back home in a couple of weeks. I've done everything that I can possible think of to get AS to work.

Just a quick update on 21015. I flashed nearly two weeks ago, when C2 just came out. It has been fast, and extremely stable. I left S2U2 and Opera out of the ROM and installed them with UC because those apps change frequently. used the 21015 OS & XIP pair.

The only tricky part is when you try to play with the kitchen by adding your own OEMs and stuf...and even then it's relatively straight-forward.

The part that first-timers usually forget is that there are 2 downloads. The Core Kitchen and then the OS that you wish to use...After completing the downloads, copy the SYS and ROM files from the OS folder into the CORE Kitchen and then just follow the process. My first time difficulty was figuring out what to do next after I finished putting checkmarks in the different boxes. After that, there's a "PLAY" button at the very top that you click on to start the rom building process. Watch the bottom "status" bar to see the process, When it says "done", click on the RED "X" at the top to close it. After that, everything will run automatically.

A word of caution....there is a limit of 128MB that the ROM size can be. If you get error messages, try un-clicking a few items to make the ROM size smaller. AS long as the ROM to be created is under 128 MB, it will work beautifully.

When I double click the bat file I get an error that it cannot find the romupdateutility.exe file. I think I'm an asshat

Since you listed the necessary, I am assuming that you "unzipped" the RAR file. For the C2 Kitchen file, the bat file you should see is "SSK 1.5 Rev C2.bat". When you double click on that, it should open a DOS dialog box and start unpacking and arranging the files that you see in the "BUILDOS" screen that shown in Post #2. I'm guessing that if you got the message about the ROMupdateutility that you might be looking in an old folder that you had when you just flashed a "pre-built" ROM....or else, your C2 kitchen download is corrupt.

Bob
Edit: Since you changed your post from the question to "THANKS", I guess you solved the problem.

If you check your PM, you'll happily find what you need. The site I built lacks aesthetics but its functional.

I personally think you are both wrong. It took me a week of asking questions and posting to come up with the basic knowledge required to cook a rom. The terminology was what was biting me in the backside.
Things I had to learn:
What Phone do I have?
What is GSM?
What is CDMA?
Do I have the balls to proceed?
Unlocking: Oh, I just can't flash my phone with a new rom, why not? Am I going to be driving to Verizon today? OH Crap, will they take it back? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503
Flashing: I've read custom roms are faster, but don't have a clue how to get started, who is going to bail me out of trouble? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=56777

cooking: I've flashed With a rom, now I want to make it a little more personal, I've seen 500 posts on cooking, what is it? how do I do it? Why does everyone say its so easy when I can't even come close? (If you are in this boat PM me, I'll hook you up)

Kitchen: How do I know what I'm supposed to do now, I've read but it isn't making sense yet. Where are the screen shots? (again PM me)

Builds: What are builds, why are there so many, what do I do with this .rar file now that its on my computer? Where are the step by step instructions? (yep, I'll help you out in PM)

Then the ultimate problem.... I'm scared to screw up this $300 phone, and am terrified that I will have to pay 6-700 to replace it!

I have the same issue but when I deselected all battery icon options I get an error during customizations saying that Battery.cab does not exist.

If I soft reset, everything seems ok. My question is, could that error cause anything in customizations not to run that needed to run and possibly lead to problems down the road that I'm just not seeing it yet....

Thanks!

When it says select only "one" that doesn't mean go ahead and select nothing. SELECT ONE, you will have a much better outcome.

I've flashed the R4R, and can't seem to connect to activesync anymore(usb). VZNAV also crashes.. Other than that been working great.

There is one wierdness though.... could select multipe items in file explorer, with the new rom I cannot.

Any suggestions?
