Haaa, I'm not exactly holding out, I just don't want to go public with my test server. Since Scott went mia, and I was walking a few people through their first flashes, I put a temporary site up until Rob takes care of Scott's.

I'm getting there....... Work is slammed](*,)(which is good considering today's economy). Just some more scripting and php to finish up and I'll start transferring files. Once Scott is back from vacation(today I think), this thread will start popping again. I know hes got something in the works.:headbang:

If I wanted to flash (without ActiveSync) from the PC...where do I put the nhb file so the Bootloader will see it? In the root directory of C:, or someplace else.

Thanks.
Bob

My experience has been that you HAVE to create a partnership with the phone through ActiveSync. You can not just connect the phone without creating the partnership and get it to do the upgrade.

As long as I have been using WM phones, I never created partnerships after Exchange 2003 because I could sync everything over the air (including setup) without ever touching a computer. But since I've started flashing, I've noticed it's a requirement.

Maybe you're making the same mistake I did?

I haven't had that experience with my flashing. I have flashed on three different PC's without creating the partnership since I am also backing up OTA. I have only run into an issue once and a reboot of the PC fixed the issue.

I'm on Vista64. I can see the phone but unless I create a partnership the tools fail. What OS and AS version are you using?

I Just had problems with AS. tried to repair the install to see if that would work and nothing.

I know its not the phone or cable now because I installed AS onto another laptop,
then exported my Outlook info to a .pst file and copied that over also.

AS seen the mobile device and then we created a new partnership.
All is well with the phone now.

My "F*@!* HD is getting ready to be formatted with a fresh WXP SP2 install.

That would explain it. I am using XP with AS 4.5.

One more thing to note, If you cooked s2u2 into Scott's rom, you are running an older version (1.44). The current version is S2U2 1.5d. It is more stable, a lot of bugs have been fixed, and it can be located here:

http://freewareppc.com/utilities/s2u2.shtml

Here is the catch, you need to recook your rom without 1.44 in it in order to get 1.5d to work from what I understand. s2u2 has been evolving so fast, I'd never cook it into the ROM FYI.

Thanks for the info,
as a semi noob, I'm comfrtable flashing roms, but cooking...not so much. Is there a step by step guide to flashing when using a kitchen. I basically want to stay with 21015 but remove s2u2. Help

Thanks in advance

I am using Vista and WMDC, and I almost lways pick the option "Connect device without creating a partnership" and I flash just fine.

Just download the kitchen and run it..it's very easy and is in step-by-step fashion already...the first couple posts in this thread explain it pretty well too.

The only tricky part is when you try to play with the kitchen by adding your own OEMs and stuf...and even then it's relatively straight-forward.
