Thanks for the info, every little bit helps!

This is something Scott may actually want to include in the ROM, or at least SSKOnline! It's the slide to answer ripped from the Touch HD I think. I figured the slide would be nice since I sometimes bump it taking it out of the hoslter. Has a call curtian too which blocks the buttons when talking, which is also kind of nice.

Here is the cool part and the reason why I think Scott may want to include it: It saves prescious RAM! Only 2MB, but every bit helps. When I downloaded it originally it mentioned compressed textures saving 2MB of space. Wasn't sure what exactly that was in comparison to.

So I decided to test it. I reflashed to a pretty stripped down kitchen, no TF3D or anything. Hard reset and then soft reset after flash, and check memory. 63.19 MB free. So I install Slide to Answer, soft reset. 65.12MB free.

I was pleasantly suprised....I have always been annoyed that the HTC Dialer took 9+MB of RAM and was required to make the call volume work. Now I have a way to cut 2MB off that...and it looks good too! Here is (I think) the original thread that I found it in:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=53977

But I attached the CAB I used just to be safe.
So i was unsure from reading that thread, does it or does it not have a curtain.

Just updated it yesterday it looks like....make sure to download the 2nd one that says Diamond.

I also have been playing with Manila from the touch HD....a version I played with earlier was very fast (faster than the VZ themes here), and it has the new tabs like stocks. The one I have now is kinda clunky, going to mess with it some more. The biggest problem is getting it started, it's kinda buggy there, otherwise it's great I'll report back when I figure out more.
This link is to the same thread i posted and then removed... did you actually try this version or just read my post there and report it working?

I ask because i could never get the thing to work, and i wonder if i should give it another go.

The CAB I attached has a curtain, and I thought I got it from that thread, but I can't find the CAB file named exactly the same anywhere, so I may have gotten it from somewhere else.

Well there are 2 cabs, and one is very new, he just posted it 2 days ago (check his edit time)...it's the second one on the list, it has Diamond in the name, and that one works for me.

EDIT: Also I recently flashed and did NOT cook phShutXP into the ROM, and just installed that cab, so maybe they conflict?

Don't know if you saw my edit above, but I did NOT cook psshutXP into Scott's ROM...I installed the cab afterward. No idea if that makes a difference or not but it may be something to try.

Right, exactly. Manila runs great on Scott's rom already. I am talking strictly about 2d performance. Namely, performance in games, web browsers, apps that really tax the 2d rendering ability of the phone. Overall, 2d performance on this phone is lackluster, but then it gets downright horrible when you switch into landscape mode in most apps.

And yeah, the ddi.dll module that Da G put into his Fuze rom is supposed to greatly improve this. He posted the module over on XDA and I tried to get it into the xip from Scott's kitchen, but wasnt able to figure it out. I hope we could somehow get his drivers into Scott's kitchen and we could all enjoy better 2d performance.

Re: ++25 Jan 09++ [VZW] SSK 1.2 - {CE OS 21109} Kitchen and ROM's!

Thanks...

I found the answer on XDA

As a note, the ver 1.2 did not work for me on Scotts latest ROM

I was getting a file permission error

It was suggested to turn off TouchFLo 3D and that didn't work either

What did work was a slightly older version

WeatherDatabaseEditor_1_1_Meins.cab

That would be a good choice to add to Scotts next version
