This is mainly aimed at your radio tests. I agree with you, I think a lot of people have a placebo effect going with the 1.11 radio...you've put up a variety of numbers showing no difference, so I'm inclined to believe them over casual observation. What I do disagree with is that you seem to think no radio revision will ever make a difference because it is just software. I think it could, and this is why:

While just software (or firmware as I would imagine it is closer to) the radio software is what tells the radio chip to do anything. If it's telling it to scan for better towers, or sending data for transport, it is giving commands to the radio chip. Bugs or inefficiencies in the radio software could affect the battery and signal performance, by either not switching to another tower, sending erraneous data packets, etc. So newer versions could fix or improve upon old ones.

Basically what I'm getting at is don't stop testing I think a future radio version could make a difference, and the kind of testing you do will prove it definitively.
I essentially agree with you. The radio (or any) software could have an impact depending on the bugs. This is especially true if you were comparing different "generations". However, I consider the three that I looked at to be the same generation. And if you assume that the mfr produced "bug-free" products, then the results would be as I have shown. If one had a major flaw, it should have shown up in the test results. But I think the primary difference is going to show up in signal performance, not in the battery area. As I said, in the post, I don't have the capability to test the signal performance....but I do expect that's where your primary difference is going to show up.

Bob

i changed my default browser to IE so it launches from the browser tab in TF3D. is it possible to list the favorites underneath "launch browser" as it did when opera was default? nothing major, it would just be handy. also, is it possible to do the same edit in total commander so that IE launches when in landscape mode as well? currently it does IE in portrait but switches back to opera in landscape.

Ever since I flashed this ROM, this KB keeps popping up:

It's driving me crazy. I figured it was the WM KB & disabled that in the reg but it didn't make any difference. It irritates the hell out of me every time I bring up SMS-Chat & that damn thing pops up & I have to change it..........

For me that seems to come up if i choose the "Keyboard" option (Shown Below) ... normally i use "Full QWERTY"

Which ROM did you install, or did you use the kitchen?

"Full QWERTY" will not be available if you cooked your own and did not add the HTC Keyboard.

Hope that helps!

I'm assuming this wasn't answered yesterday because no one had the answer buddy... sorry.

But did you happen to try this thread?

It has a how-to on making PIE your default... I personally haven't used it because I just dont install Opera, so PIE is default.
But that is a very extensive how-to thread... it should be of some help, or at least lead you to a better thread to post your question in.

Good luck!

That happened today when I was streaming music for a bit... battery life went from 100 to 80% in like 20 mins... then I stopped the app and did a soft reset, and battery life then showed 40. This happen to anyone else?

Questions:

What icon set (custom taskbar) are you using?
Is it tsowen?
More specifically is it tsowen's 5v1.6?
Are you also using the nuePowerDriver?

I ask because with that above combo, i've seen my battery levels jump erratically sometimes... i didnt notice those battery jumps with tsowen's V2 taskbar set.

Not even sure if it's related man... just my experience.

I believe Scott's choice ROM also does not have any other keyboard installed but the standard winmo with the skin shown above.

That's why i asked him which ROM he installed... if "Choice" or if he cooked his own without HTC Keyboard... well that would be my guess.

Cool Re: ++25 Jan 09++ [VZW] SSK 1.2 - {CE OS 21109} Kitchen and ROM's!

Okay Scott....I'm on a XV6800, the RUU Utility says No Joy when I even attempt to install this ROM....I WANT IT!! LOL. Do you have a minor little tweak that get get me up and going so that we can see how fast I fry my XV6800.....again. I have 76 more on stand by, so let's play! (And did you know you can get 512 Mb of RAM on a 6800? The chip is not a fixed setting and is controled by software...don't know how to do it yet, but I have seen proof that it can be done).

Anyway, back to the point of my post. I would really like to run YOUR (with credit going to all those who helped out on it as well) ROM on my XV6800, but I am "unable to flash it on my device." I like what I have now, but I haven't flashed this week and I am having withdrawls. Any thoughts or comment???

Quick question... do you have the service activated on your account already?
