IM cooking up a 20764 ROM with a newly cleaned up OEM folder. I did the cleaning nearly by hand. Workes awesome on the "1.4 Beta 4" base that dimitir is running right now. The 20764 ROM is booting now with the conflipper XIP I sent you. I will tes these functions real quick sa I have REscoe on my storage card. I will let you know in a moment. Then I am going to move in your ROM .SYS and .ROM folders. I will cook again and see what happens. I have already made the Autorun changes you sent me as well as updating my RGU wiht the security info. And after first boot it appears that they did resolve it prefectly! Thank you.... No off to the XIP swaps. I am going to use the batch file you sent me. Going to oplay around wiht this fora couple hours first thought to annototate any oddites. -Scott EDIT: To keep my results as equal as possible I have not chnaged the kitchen framework yet since version 1.2 so we are all using the same batch files until now. I am trying yours. Just a side thought. Last edited by scrosler; 02-03-2009 at 03:54 PM. |

Re: New XIP for 21109 sys with working encryption (ver 2 25-Jan-2009)
Ok, I got it working. I think I just mis understood the first times. I moved the RMO and the .VM .ROM into the 21109 kichen and it booted just fine. I just couldnt get it to work in the 20764 kitchen yet.
So far it does seem even more responsive especially mixed with the new OEM pack. The new OEM pack has been modularized like GC suggested. I used some files from him and conflipper. Seems a notable bit faster and even more so with this XIP 3E Fixed.zip XIP. I will test and report back over the next couple days. Been taking it easy lately. -Scott |

BTW - I was just going to PM you and ask if you had placed wince.nls into your SYS - since it was removed from the XIP - that would have prevented the system from booting. The OP mentions this though - but who reads OPs anymore... Also, after building with your new OEM pack with more modules, you should dump the rom to get a look at the virtual memory map. Good way to see if there are any memory conflict issues before they arise.

Re: New XIP for 21109 sys with working encryption (ver 2 25-Jan-2009)
I'm wrapping up my work on 1.2 now - I'm extremely happy with it in terms of speed, memory, etc. 20764 does indeed seem stable. Any thoughts on 21109 speed vs. 20764? Stability? Bugaboos if it is indeed a hex edit?
I can do the 21109 MSXIPKernel with the same things that are fixed in 20764 3E for matched testing there as well. I narrowed in on 10M with my particular load of applications - seems to be just right. I've also been pruning back the HTC stuff a bit - they didn't take much care with memory usage - must have done all that coding before Ma VZW asked them to neuter the 6850. |

Nothing notable right now with E3-Fixed other than a visible diff in screen rates, etc. That damn thing is fast man. Good job! Quote:
I make three ROM's fro release Choice: No HTC stuff including the pretty keyboard Standard: Just OEM HTC stuff Deluxe: All HTC Stuff and a bunch of apps. May combine Deluxe and standard this time and do just two ROM's. The kitchen is also very clean. You can drag and drop SYS and ROM folders and build the same ROM's all day on the differnt CE OS. May batch it all up so CE OS is selectable in build of ROM... Not sure I got the skills for that but did it with batch files and it worked perfect. Well see... Got a lot planned and little time. As far as the resco problem dimitir brought up, I have it with E3-Fixed. never tried ti with any other XIP. Could be an issue with CE OS as well. Hard to say while I am at work. Will test on it more when I get home. |

Re: New XIPs for 20764 and 21109 sys
Original post updated here with 21109-based XIP. This XIP is the same as 3E except for the MSXIPKernel files which are 21109 instead of 20764. Note - I have not built a ROM with this yet so I am posting this as untested. If someone using 21109 SYS in a kitchen cooks with this, please let me know if it boots OK.
NOTE - you will also need all the other files in the XIP3E folder - the 2E folder contains ONLY the os.nb.payload. For reference, I am using 20764 (version 3E) in my ROM with no issues at all. ROM cooked with Scott's kitchen 1.2 with a lot of personal touches. Dimitri, try version 2 and see if Resco Update is happer. Outside of that I don't have any more ideas on that particular problem. Scott - I'd be curious of your benchmarking results with the updated 21109-based 2E and a 21109-based ROM cooked from your 1.5 beta kitchen. |

I'll do some testing tonight after the kids go to bed. I'm still using your old 2E so I'd be interested to see how the new version works.
