quick noobed out question - but i have never seen it discussed before.
i know i can flash off if xp,vista, win 7, sd card BUT is it possible to do it off of a windows ME computer (friend only has ME computer - asked if it was possible)

I would imagine so.... Look and see if active sync 4.5 can be installed on ME, if so, he's golden.

Is your friend slow and retarded as well since he's still running ME?

The newest activesync 4.5 will not install on windows me. You'll have to install 3.8, but it's not meant to work with Windows Mobile 6.1, but you can give it a shot if you really need to. You can see the details about this and download 3.8 here. Why don't you just flash from the mem card? You don't even need a computer for that.

Very Nice of You - If i wanted your opionon on his mental state i would have asked. Notice how i don't ask noob questions alot - its because i read and read. And even though i have a computer cabaple of running circles around you, not everyone does and they must make do with what they have working.

Thank you VERY much for your helpful post - Thanks button hit. that was what i needed to know. however, if he puts the phone in bootloader mode it does not need to be connected via acrive sync - correct? and therefor can be done from windows ME?

As far as the mem card goes that is not an option - i tried to say that when i mention the list of things that work but i guess i wasn't clear enough. thanks anyways though

Correct, but when you install activesync it installs usb drivers that may be needed for when you plug it in while in bootloader mode. Not sure about that though. It may work. You can just try it and see if the computer recognizes the device while in bootloader. Goodluck.
