Heres a nice place to look for backgrounds.. They are all VGA and are made for the Touch Pro.

Wow sounds horrible. Mine doesn't do that. Have you disabled t9 ? What user customizations do you have installed ?

Question for you sir. I assume you used Advanced Config to disable the dialer skin thus killing S2A and enabling the stock dialer, right? If so, does your in call volume work? When I do the above I lose my in call volume and when I re enable the skin it (and S2A) comes back.

I've re downloaded, reflashed and hard reset (after each flash) the phone twice today, same issue both times.

Ideally I want to kill S2a, use the cool new stock dialer AND have in call volume control - not too much to ask is it?

Edit: Just went to the link you provided for the VGA backgrounds - OMFG! 1,300 high quality incredibly creative backgrounds, nice. Very nice. Bookmarked.

Confirmed !

I just called my daughter. The in call sound slider works, however as you reported it does NOT change the call volume at all. My daughters voice stayed constant the entire time.

This is with the Wm Stock dialer.
