Re: [ 10-22 ][ v4.1 ][ 6.5.1 / 6.5 / 6.1 ] Calkulin's Visual HTC Kitchen & ROMs

I've been using 23071 the past few days. I have to say that it looks terrific. Great App choices too. I installed the new commManager to get the WifiRouter functionality. Also, finally got my GPS to work (after much work). Basically everything is great except my memory problems...

Is there anything that can be done to help out with the available memory issue other than changing the pagepool? I've set the pagepool to 8 which is fine "smoothness" wise however, after opening and closing one program, then opening and closing another program (such as google maps, midomi ID, youtube) I always get a warning. This means I'm having to run cleanRAM every time I use the phone. Is there any better option? Is there anything running that doesn't need to be (that wont affect look or function)? If anyone has any really good suggestions, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

I've searched the thread and found some mentions of helping with memory (changing pagepool) which I did and one suggested checking Titan Fora, which I did...

The Verizon TP is a tough boat to be in due to lack of memory. You are closing programs through some other method than the "X" button right?

The "X" button in all the newer builds of WM, 23+ I believe, is broken. So when you think you're closing programs, you're actually not closing programs but minimizing them. There are a couple of solutions:

1) e-natives showcase suite 1.0.1.a (I think that's the newest version) - It will force the "X" button to close programs as well as act as an easily accesible task manager. It brings bugs with it though. Many report it cause general stickiness in TF. I myself experienced email lags that would often lead to a soft-reset. I discontinued use because of that.

2)RaphKeyboardConfigurator - This program allows you to re-map the hardware (and maybe soft) keys to do what you want. You can assign the action button, for example, to "close active window" which in turn will close whatever program you were running.

3)Close programs using the little HTC quick access Task Manager that's hidden behind the clock in the top taskbar (at least I think it is). I'm not currently running this ROM and so am not 100% sure. You can also use the normal Task Manager program.

There's nothing "broken" about that. That's been the behavior of the X-button since day one with WinMo. Anything that causes programs to close with the X-button is a third party add-on (e.g., HTC Task Manager).

Whatever... not the point. He needed to know he's not closing programs. I realize it's not "broken" that's why I said "broken" <--- Italics, see?

It still has nothing to do with "newer builds of WM", like you said. The button behavior has been the same since day one.

Good backpedal.
