i finally got to the bottom of this issue!!!! it seems that when building your kitchen using the vista os,there are two paths involved in this process..the 1st one is the (c:/program files/ppckitchen.org/buildos/user_oem) the specific folder is the one created by oemizer labeled-(zzzzzOptional_Personal). when you create your personal oem, your settings are saved in this folder.if you have an issue with the oem you created or just want to start fresh without it showing up in your kitchen, you should delete that zzzzzOptional_Personal folder in 2 locations. the first location pathway is mentioned above and second location is located in a hidden location (c:/users/(username,in my case-da1stprince)/appdata/local/virtualstore/program files/ppckitchen.org/buildos/user_oem and delete the 2nd (zzzzzOptional_Personal) folder.** to unhide this folder go to tools -options-under file and folder settings and select-"show hidden files and folders" and that 2nd pathway will be visible. The deletion should be done in that order because, the 2nd pathway is created when you actually create and initialize that personal oem(zzzzzOptional_Personal) in the kitchen. if only created using oemizer,it will not be seen in the 2nd location. i should also mention that you can edit some of your personal oems if you just want to delete some and not all your personal settings saved. Open (zzzzzOptional_Personal) in both locations and make necessary changes, just make sure you do them in both locations. hope this helps you all out like it did for me..

It wont let a build even complete for the herman device. You have to NOT select it if you want the build to get to the end. So no, it doesnt work. Others have noticed this too.

I dont know. I still cant get a finished build. Even when I unselect VOIP, the build finishes to 100% but hangs at the Touch Pro screen. Others have posted this problem as well, but there doesnt seem to be an answer. Could this be a pagepool setting issue? You commented that it shouldnt be the problem before, but I dont even know if I want to try another build until I can figure out why I am not getting a good build.

I would like to try, but not getting past the initial splash screen. I am attaching my selections file... maybe you could shed some light.

i even tried another build with default pagepool. still no go. i will watch for more comments on the stability of this thing... or perhaps try a different kitchen.

What's it do, if it doesn't complete?

No.

File create error on "dnsapi.dll".

edufur 12-29-2008 03:02 PM

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

last post is correct. that dns file error. but that is the least of my concerns. as i said, if I uncheck the VOIP option, the build completes, the device goes all the way to 100%... but the device boot never gets past the splash screen. I have tried 3 different builds. Nothing has worked. You have my selections file, so if you can figure out what is wrong, that would be great.

Am I missing something (probably) or is there no Bell option in the Carrier.

Does that mean I'm SOL if I want to use the kitchen?

has ANYONE build successfully (meaning it actually boots too) with 20755 yet? if so, can I please have a peek at selection files? My builds complete but never boot past the screen that says Touch Pro.

Everytime I flash this, It doesn't reconize me on the Verizon network (yes, I am chosing Verizon in the BuildOS screen) So I then run *228 and choose to update roaming, it goes through then reboots and gets stuck in the boot splash screen. Nothing I do will get me out of it except to reflash. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks for help in advance.

I have not been able to complete a successful Kitchen with 20931
Has anybody had this error? I have searched but not lucky finding anything, that could help. I have uploaded my log file and a picture of the error

I have the most recent Build OS, and followoed a couple of suggestions here in the forum but not lucky.

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

5 Rom's, all do the same thing.

I've tried using the PPC Rom Kitchen 5 times, and every time I use it, the Rom fails.

It builds successfully, it flashes successfully, it books successfully, I configure the phone, it reboots, and then the load screen comes up. That's where it fails every time. It will not boot up the 2nd time.

I tried removing the FM Radio app, but it still won't boot up. I've tried changing the config utility, not loading an OEM file, everything.

I'm trying it a 6th time, if not, I'll just go back to the stock rom, it was ok.

Yep, number 6 failed too.

Yeah, I wanted to use 20755... but that doesnt work at all. Tried 20931 and am having the same problem you are having. I think you can officially say that BuildOS is in alpha state for the TP. Its a great kitchen for Apache tho.

It's a great program though, I'll donate so that one day I can have a custom rom. If only they could make cabs out of some of the things you can install in there.

i will donate once i get a good build out of it. Thats how I did it for the apache.

How do I add my own cabs/programs into buildOS? For example, the s2u2 included is 1.32, whereas 1.40 is out. Anyone know?

Also, do I have to use Herman as opposed to Raphael in order to get Sprint to show up under carriers?

you can add your own OEMS to user_OEM but not your own cabs. Yes you have to use Herman for Sprint as Herman is CMDA and Raphael is GSM.

I did have FM radio but took it out and the same happened. But here is the trick I found to fix it.

1. Flash with PPCKitchen build 20931.
2. After it boots and runs customizations, immediately go to *228, option 3 and reactivate phone on the network.

3. Phone reboots and works fine.

I noticed when I was having the problem before, it wouldn't reconize me on the network so I ran *228, option 1 or 2 and that would lock it at splash screen.

It wasn't till I ran option 3 and re-introduced the phone to VZ that I had a working phone.

Weird eh?

I AM THINKING THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE GUYS AT POST #218 WAS HAVING??

DID I JUST FIND A BUG / FIX !!!

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

i ws screwing around with the kitchen and was wondering if its possible to implement 20954 into it. i got it to show up in the selections, and when i build a rom and flash it to the device it gets stuck in a bootloop. i compressed the sys 20954 to a rar file, put it in the folder with the other sys files.

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

dont you think they should get the last 2 working first?

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

So I have customized every last option down to my pop3 and exchange settings in the latest kitchen, and it's almost perfect. Thank you so much to the PPC Kitchen team! Why are donations disabled??

The one thing I can't figure out how to do is prevent clearvue presentation from installing. Does anyone know how to do this? It seems to be buried in the herman core. I don't remember it being there previously, but I had a someones random cooked rom on my touch pro maybe two hours after i bought it.

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

so are you saying that in order for this kitchen to work, i have to practically select nothing? i guess I am stuck with other people's custom ROMs. Kind of a shame, this kitchen worked so well with the Apache. I think they are giving up on it.

will this work for the Verizon touch pro or just the sprint one?

edufur 01-02-2009 06:53 PM

Re: WM6.1 build 20931 kitchen

neither. unless you get lucky. may want to prevent the aggravation and pick one of the custom roms that are already pre-made.

My Kitchen works fine and I selected quite a few things. I stuck with a basic dialer and also basic TP3D manilla (which I actually never use).

As for your other question... it does seem like a long time since the last kitchen update. (way back in November). You'd have to ask the kitchen authors if there will be another one coming up soon.

well, i use sprint... and prefer the sprint manila (apparently it is the required version for sprint anyway) and I also prefer the white dialer. None of the builds have worked for me... except the latest, which was only good until a soft reset.... then it wouldnt boot at all.

You don't happen to have the "Cambridge Bluetooth" selected in your kitchen?

Read the first post. It is not compatible. IT will cause a Freeze on a soft-rest.
