Re: [8-3-09] eRice New Style TP Kitchen [Build 23016.5.3.0]

Yes, I figured it out. I copied all the files over to the OEM>Additional Ringtones> folder and I'm now modifying the initflashfiles.txt. And I guess with this I can click the Additional Ringtones selection while building the kitchen and it will add my ringtones. Great!

Stupid they should have made a folder specifically for the Rings Folder, so you can just copy files over, instead of having to not only copy the file over, but add the code into the initflashfiles.txt file.

Thanks Alot!

I don't understand. I meant as in Copying the ringtones from my computer, to to phones kitchen. Cause I make my own ringtones. And go through roms like I take showers. So I would like to be able to just copy the new ringtone I've made, to the folder and be done with it, instead of adding the code. But its fine this way.

I don't understand that file you attatched.

Re: [8-3-09] eRice New Style TP Kitchen [Build 23016.5.3.0]

[QUOTE=nFiniti;1087970]callmesaul8889, At first startup this happens? Have you setup the Task Manager program inside Start>Settings>System>Task Manager to turn off the programs when you click X? If not, go to that area, click the Button Tab and click "shut off when I click X", automatically its set to only close the program when you click and hold X. So you might have tasks constantly staying on.

On a fresh startup, my phone is around 45% Memory Used. I no longer use Windows Media Player because its a huge memory hog, after each song it will kill memory about 10% and end up crashing the phone. Its like this with every rom I've seen. HTC Audio Manager doesn't use anything compared to this. During Music Playback, my phone might see 50% of memory usage. MAX Memory usage I've seen has been 55% and thats while jammin music and browsing the web using the bulky Opera Mobile 9.5. Opera Mini doesn't use any resources like Mobile does, and is alot faster and cleaner for browsing web pages, but is harder to integrate into the phone.

I have my Task Manager program to show me Memory being used. Not Free Memory.

i dont mean to sound rude at all, but im a little more advanced than this, i really appreciate the response tho.. i cant tell you how many times ive posted somewhere and never gotten a response..
my issues are that this is the 3rd ROM of 6.5 ive tried(2nd of 23016).... first one was PPC kitchen, i cooked my own, and at startup i had 29% mem usage max.. after s2u2 and titanium weather im at about 32% once everything's loaded.
I just installed energyrom and it's a pretty hefty ROM with a lot of stuff goin on and it starts up with 35% mem usage and it's pretty quick with all my stuff running...

butttt, i like this kitchen's rom, its nice and simple, i just want to figure out why this(fairly clean) ROM starts up and has 43-46% mem usage right off the bat... and the fact that it's a considerable amount slower bothers me..
if anyone knows of a service or startup item thats making this rom bog down, id really appreciate some help im just picky i guess thanks

I do have a question though. Really would like to start building a rom with oem's I enjoy, and I just can't seem to get them to work. Is there a tutorial out there that explains it a bit better. I've read the ones at ppckitchen, but can't seem to get it down.

I enjoy the automation, but with it is the lack of explanation as to what is being done. Trying to fish around and find the right tutorials, but seems they all differ slightly. Hopefully I'm not making an arse of myself here. Just at wits end.

Thanks.
To cook applications you like into a ROM using the kitchen, you must either find or create an OEM for it, and put it into the OEM directory in the kitchen folders. Afterwards, you must click the checkbox for this OEM for it to be cooked into the ROM. There really shouldn't be anything else to it.

LMK if you need any help with something. I flash about 3 roms a day on my phone because I'm testing things out. This kitchen/rom setup is just almost virtually flawless. I too have kinda noticed the adding contacts thing. But it was when I was receiving an email, I wanted to save the email address into my contacts, and everytime I'd click save, nothing would happen.

RICE, I have a question. I'm trying to setup the kitchen to hold my Ringtones so I don't have to have them on The SD Card. Because once HTC Audio Manger see's them, they are permanently there. its a PITA. Now I got the sounds integrated properly. But the area that held the oem ring tones, I deleted them and replaced them with my ring tones. Burnt a rom and they weren't there. They were on the phone, but inside the Windows Directory with the rest of the sounds. What am I doing wrong? Where can I put the ring tones so that they will be burnt onto the rom automatically in the "Rings" folder?
I'll take a look into the memory issue. The contacts problem has been fixed and I'll upload the fixed Build Pack in a little bit. As for the ringtones, you must have the files added to the Additional Ringtones OEM, and have the ringtone filenames properly added to the "initflashfiles.txt" file in that OEM so that the kitchen places the tones into the proper folder. If they're not added to initflashfiles, then the kitchen doesn't know where to place them and just adds them to \\Windows by default.

Re: [8-3-09] eRice New Style TP Kitchen [Build 23016.5.3.0]

Seems that on startup, there are four .exes that seem to be taking up an awful lot of memory:

cprog.exe 9.92M (dialer related)
filesys.exe 9.64M
opera9.exe 6.51M (added by "Preload Programs" OEM)
device.exe 5.08M

One suggestion would be to remove "Preload Programs" from the OEM folder and cook without it. That shouls shave off some memory being used on startup. As for the others, I'm not too sure where they can be trimmed.

Yeah, u need to add the code.

Code:
<characteristic type="%CE2%\Rings\Ring-Random.wma" translation="install">
             <characteristic type="Move">
                 <parm name="Source" value="%CE2%\Ring-Random.wma" translation="install"/>
             </characteristic>
</characteristic>
%CE2% is the \Windows folder of ure phone. So, this says the source file is "%CE2%\Ring-Random.wma" and it needs to be "Move" to "%CE2%\Rings\Ring-Random.wma"
