Yup lol. I learned this the hard way when the letters on my hard keyboard were typing the wrong one. Had to go fix the SIP.

This is why I use Calkuns kitchen first then move oems over it clears dup's A bit of a pain but easier than trying to track all files down

for stock ROMS i use RAPH blank Kitchen (i still cant port XIPs very well)
for updated ROMS i tend to stay with eRice and try the other kitchens when they get posted.

i got started cooking my own ROMS on a treo 700wx and as good a start that was i still have tons to learn about customizing.

perhaps someday i will finally get it, but until then thank you to all in this forum who provide the real goods for hacks like me to play with

I have asked this a couple times, but I havent seen an answer yet. Is there a way to get the standard Sprint Comm Manager? Is this in a manila file that just needs to be replaced. If so does anyone have it?

Hi!
The touch pro is selling pretty good in Mexico, and we still don't have a carrier specific ROM or kitchen, it would be of great help that you included Iusacell carrier in your kitchen, just tell me what settings you need and i'll be happy to send them.
Also, I'm used to donate to helpful members.
Thanks!

Found a bug in your kitchen, I'm using a heavily modified version of it, but you have a registry key that is set for GPRS, not CDMA data.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\S uspendResume

MULTI_SZ value should be #777

By default it puts some GPRS setting in there that causes some call/data issues.

I would refer you to this page over at XDA-Developers on dumping your ROM. I don't believe we currently have a Lusacell dump and we'd be interested in seeing what it has. I would advise a hard reset before dumping it just to keep it as clean as possible. Also, PM one of us so we can deconstruct it and remove any phone-specific information before it is put into the wild.

I've got my own secure host you can upload it to if you'd like.

no, that build is far too buggy and slow to be a practical build release.

How does 21109 compare to 21014?
I heard that 21109 was more hexxed/patched together than 21014, while the latter is supposedly pretty much direct from a real-world build. I've been using 21014 and found it remarkably fast, so I never considered any others.
I admit I haven't tried 21109, but I recently had to hard reset to correct some bugs, and I'm wondering if 21109 is worth looking into... any thoughts?

For VZW users, Scrosler has created a replacement OEM pack that interfaces with this kitchen. You just have to replace the entire OEM folder with his. You can find it here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=48262

!!ATTENTION!! - You MUST have your device unlocked via HardSPL before you can use this kitchen.
Check out the HardSPL thread on PPCGeeks for more information.

Also, if you find any bugs, PLEASE post in here so I am aware of them and can try to fix them. I'll also be working on porting newer builds and creating optional stock OEMs.

Note: The screen will hang at the main "Touch Pro" splash for a minute and then continue on.

Hey guys. Love the latest kitchen (21109.1.6.0) but I do have a few quirks and questions..

First off. Does anyone else have any issues scrolling their contacts? I cannot scroll them smoothly at all. It will only scroll if I flick them then its a crapshoot if I can stop it somewhere near the name I need. The easiest way to get a name is to type it in the search. No other app has any abnormal problems with finger scrolling. (This is a problem with or without any of the Essential TP tweeks).

Next... I didn't believe the TP has IR.. Why do we have a Beam option in connections and in the connection manager?

IE6.. Apparently it doesnt work with apps like Saturn Liberity and the FlashVideoBungle? In SL it keeps throwing me to the Desktop version of webpages (since it uses an embedded IE to view its menu's) and FVB cant seam to find IE when you click on a youtube video to View/Download/ETC. Anyone else confirm this so I might not be just the only one lol.

These are the only quirks I can think of atm. The rest of the Kitchen works great and for only having this TP for about 4 days I can say I am officially hooked way more than my Titan or 6700. :)

Now if only there were more hours in a day. It takes forever to get my roms the way I want them since I do not like a lot of frequently updated apps as OEM's.

Thanks for the kitchen, it's the best I've used so far. I do have a couple issues, though. Every time I soft reset, the keyboard reverts back to the Full QWERTY. The only SIP I use is the regular keyboard, so it's really annoying. Is there any way you could make the SIP's selectable in the kitchen? I'd rather just leave all but the keyboard out. Also, ##778 won't work, and if I try to run EPST.exe from /Windows/, it never loads. Thanks again!

Sweet! I'm about to flash the current version of a ROM from this kitchen now. I was thinking of maybe porting over a newer build for it as well.

What version were you planning to use in the next kitchen? That way I know so I don't port the same version over. :)

Do you know whether I can use the OEMizer with this kitchen. I still have the program from a kitchen used when cooking for my 6700. If it is possible, how would I include it? anyone know? thanks in advance since I'm still kind of a noob.

forummansbj 03-05-2009 05:29 PM

Slow ROM from too many programs?

Oh one other thing and much more important than my OEMizer question...does having a lot of programs built into the ROM slow down performance significantly. I took many of the options provided in your kitchen plus I included OEM package for torchbutton (which works great with the pro as a replacement for (VJCandella since this doesn't appear to be compatible with touchpro). I also included SIP change and a lock on wake program. All in all I did choose a fairly large selection of items but what I want to know is if this should negatively impact the performance of my phone. I would think that as long as I don't have a lot of programs running at the same time that it wouldn't matter too much how many of them are installed on the phone.

there don't appear to be any glitches with the system. Everything runs: calls, data, gps, etc. but it is VERY sluggish whenever I'm in any program...even after a soft reset and if I only run one program at a time. Anyone else experiencing this? I can't imagine I did anything wrong with the OEM but I don't know why it would have such a noticable lag. would it help to overclock ...if there is such a program for the touch pro. Any direction on speeding up my device would be much appreciated. In fact, it would even be donation worthy if it worked. Minus the lag, this kitchen is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Its got all the right stuff...just annoyingly slow. Thanks in advance for anyone with advice.

My guess is that it is something you selected / loaded. This kitchen produces the BEST ROM I have ever had on my TP. I have tried them all and keep coming back to this one because of its speed, stability, and the fact I can go 3 days without charging my battery. I dont know how he pulls it off. No other ROM lasts a day without having to charge. If yours is slow, it is something you are doing.

Thanks Edufur. I was wondering if it was on my end or not. I think I may have pinpointed a major part of the issue as being linked to WM task. I really like the taskmanager bar listing the open programs but I guess I'll have to forgo until I find something that works better with the TP. with that gone I only have one complaint and I'm wondering if this is my fault in my cooking as well. I have turned off the auto complete, word suggestion, word correction etc. but whenever I use my keyboard it still has a black bar showing the word I am typing at the bottom of the screen in addition to where it is actually typing. This I believe is doing two things. 1) it seems to slow down the text input somewhat and 2) it prevents me from doing the quick SMS contact selection. I used to be able to put in the initials of the contact I want and select that person but instead of the possible contact it shows that black bar I described. Are other people getting this too? Thanks again for letting me know.

This happens with just about all the kitchens / roms after first load. Basically, click the onscreen keyboard with your stylus and switch from T9 to ABC. That gets rid of it.

Hey eRice, First thanks for the great work on the Kitchen. because of your work this nooby will build his very first ROM =D>

Couple of questions:
1 - How do you personalize the CE OS (Build 12xxxxx 'chef name') using your kitchen?

2 - I ran into a problem in which a few OEM Apps/Tools I added to the OEM directory (displays fine and can be selected to be included into the ROM).
But when building, the build process fails when it gets to the added OEM's.
This happends when usinf the included Cab2OEM tool in your kitchen.

Is there a better method and/or recommended practice for adding OEM Apps/Tools to your Kitchen

Thanks Dude

I used to hate the SIP change on soft reset too until I found SIPchange. its a little freeware program over at xda that stores your chosen SIP and then once you reboot it sets it back to whatever was last selected before the reboot. it essecially runs the program on reboot with a 10 second delay to auto set it up. To my knowlege there isn't any way to tell the computer which SIP is the defualt but this handle little tool at least will switch it back for you each time. go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008 for the cab. I saw one other program that might also do the trick (http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Sy...II-74669.shtml). I don't know if this does the same thing but it might also be an asnwer for you. hope that helps.

where in heck is croslers OEM pak for verizon? I looked over his page and just like everyone else in here he uses different terminology. Don't get me wrong, I love everything you all do but if you all used the same terminology and made everything a little clearer on your sites there would be a lot less noob questions. I donate, i try to help, I paypal those who work hard I try, please understand. i used a kitchen for my 6700 and it was awesome, now i just want a good kitchen to fix up my tp bt it just seems so much more complicated for some reason.

You need to download Croslers kitchen and then extract the OEM folder from his kitchen and replace the OEM folder is erices kitchen with the one from Croslers.

And maybe I am reading it wrong but if thats the case why not just use Croslers SSK kitchen in the first place? If your just going to replace it with Croslers stuff anyways...........
